Commercial Description:
Our Saranac Oatmeal Stout is lavishly brewed with a delicate balance of the finest Mid-Western grown oats, seven hand-selected hops and our traditional ale yeast. Look for a sweet, dark chocolate and roasted taste in this full bodied stout. Often described as silky and smooth, this delicious Oatmeal Stout is one to remember.

Bouquet of cocoa currants, charred oak, with a little diacetyl. Black color, no head. Very sour charcoal and parsley. Charcoal finish. Thin mouthfeel and a poor sample of a style I truly enjoy.

Saranac Oatmeal Stout is included in their 12 beers of winter sampler pack. A great sampler pack with 12 different beers to try. Usually only 10 or 11 bucks for the 12 pack too. Definitely recommended! Now onto the beer... blackish in color with a moderate tan head. Head isn’t as foamy as some other stouts but there was a nice amount of lacing on the glass. Roasted chocolate aroma with a creamy scent as well. Flavor is pretty good, although maybe a touch thin on the mouthfeel. Roasted malts with chocolate and a faint touch of hops. Pretty good balance and warming. I love the fact that they make these sampler packs! 12 different beers all in one pack! Great for reviewing and inexpensive. Saranac has got to be one of the best beers for the money around. I know I’ve said that before but it’s worth mentioning again.
