Commercial Description:
Our Saranac Oatmeal Stout is lavishly brewed with a delicate balance of the finest Mid-Western grown oats, seven hand-selected hops and our traditional ale yeast. Look for a sweet, dark chocolate and roasted taste in this full bodied stout. Often described as silky and smooth, this delicious Oatmeal Stout is one to remember.

Pours a deep dark brown, almsot black, but not quite, with a thin lasting head. Aroma is lgith chocolate, some charred bitter black malts, and some light roasted barley. Flavor is pretty weak especially for a sweet stout- reminds me more of a bland dry stout kind of like guinness with less sweetness and more black bitter harsh malts. Very dry finish and weak body.

12 fl. oz. (US) bottle #2887 09306. Pours almost black and a little sluggishly. A quickly dissipating tannish head appears. An overpowering oatmeal and chocolate in the scent. Medium mouthfeel. Good body. An enjoyable brew.

Part of the Twelve Beers of Winter pack. Pours a very dark black color with a thin, long lasting head. Roasted malt aroma. Starts out with a light roasted malt flavor. As the beer warms the sweetness of dark chocolate comes out. Finishes dry with some lingering bitterness. A very good, not exceptional, oatmeal stout.

Bottle: Pitch black, yet it has a nice twinkle. Thin foam top. The aroma is of hot chocolate, but cold. That bold flavor doesn’t carry quite as boldly to the palate as I’d hoped, but still a tasty little stout. On the light side, both in body and intensity of the flavors, but a good way to introduce someone to the style. (#3235, 12/4/2007)

Opague appearance with a large, chestnut colored head and very good lacing. Chocolate malt aroma with a hint of coffee. Earthy, nutty, mildly sweet, roasted malt taste. Smooth, medium-bodied mouthfeel, but gentle on the palate. Finish sticks around for awhile. A good, easy drinking outmeal stout.

Pours a very dark reddish. Decent tan head. Thick lacing. Smell is malty, as is the taste. Mouthfeel is almost crisp. Decent beer.

From a bottle poured dark with a good amount of head. Flavor of malt with a good aftertaste.

Started out nice enough with a nice looking head and dark black color. But the flavor is way too heavy on the burnt malt. Neither silky or smooth.
