COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saranac Octoberfest is a rich flavorful lager. We use imported two-row and crystal malt and balance it with the pleasant bitterness of Saaz and Tettang hops.

The beer has a nice color to it, but the taste has a sour aspect that I’m really not fond of. It’s not an octoberfest offering I’d come back to.

Bottle. Dark drown color with a malty rice barley flavor. Decent profile with a nice easy drinking taste. Nothing special

A little on the lower end of the grand scheme of things. Doesn’t quite give credit to the noble style of Oktoberfest. Pours orange with OK head and lacing. Fizzy. Lightly offensive, but only in the Chihuahua sense. Bottle at crios thanks to Travlr.

Bottle at Crios. Clear amber color. Aroma of metallic caramel. Taste is similar. Not a fan.

follows in line with the others i’ve had from their line-up. non-offensive and fairly true to style, but also usually a little thin and boring. this one was no exception. a little generic on the malts, though it satisfied a craving. kinda."

Transfer from BA review on 9-27-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a brownish tinted amber color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head has a good level of staying power, fading slowly over time to leave a decent level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is of a lightly roasted malt aroma with some nice aromas of a caramel sweetness. A light amount of spice is there as well giving an overall sweet and lightly roasted Oktoberfest aroma overall. Taste –The taste begins with a lightly roasted and bready flavor with a strong showing of caramel. As the flavor advances from the initial, the flavor initially sweetens even more with some brown sugar flavors coming to the tongue. The roasted gets a bit stronger more toward the middle of the taste with other flavors of spice coming to the tongue. The sweeter flavors, at the same time, start to dwindle with a light herbal flavor that comes to the tongue. In the end the mix of flavors leaves a sweeter roasted and lightly hopped flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side with a carbonation level that is on the medium side as well. Both are fitting for the style and make for a rather easy drinking style. Overall –An overall easy drinking, sweeter Oktoberfest. Rather tasty overall and not bad for the price.

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Boulevard pint glass From: From my brother Price: N/A Purchased: N/A Consumed: Sept. 8, 2014 Misc.: Best by Jan. 31, 2015 Poured a caramel auburn color with 1-to-2 fingers of off white head. Nice string of bubbles. Minimal wet lacing along the sides of the glass. Below average retention on the tops. (Sight - 3.80) Smelled more hops than I’d thought. Citrus hops, coriander, lemon zest, floral hops, iced tea, caramel, light Cascade hops and some lime. (Smell - 3.94) Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. Got iced tea, citrus hops, lime rind, coriander, caramel, lemon zest, toffee, light wet Cascade hops, some rye hops, nutmeg and corn malts. (Taste - 3.76) Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.65) A decent Oktoberfest. (Overall - 3.77) 3.79 85 B+

Now this is what a true Octoberfest should taste like!! May be a slight thinner then style but besides that it is super drinkable just like it should be. Not to much heavy malt flavors like it should be. Nice job. Wish other American breweries wouldn't mess the style up so much ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy amber to orange to brown color with a somewhat soft one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some nice light lacing sliding into the beer. The smell had some nice light nutty to caramel malts enriching an enticing sweet German maltiness rolling all around. The taste was mainly malty sweet with the nuttiness coming back to combine with the German malts. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation was pretty good as there wasn’t anything harsh about it. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Oktoberfest worthy of having again.

The body has a medium amber color with good clarity and a modest size, just off white head. It fades quickly down to a very thin covering that makes only a little slick lacing. Its aroma has herbal hop notes with light hints of sweet caramel and bready malt. The flavor has an average but still very good mix of sweet caramel and bready malt with spicy/herbal and mildly floral hops. It has a solid medium body with a soft texture and carbonation. The finish leans a bit towards the hops and the drinkability is very good. Overall it’s a solid yet safe Oktoberfest beer.

Clear copper amber with a billowy 1/2" head, bands of lace. Taste is somewhat disappointing: sweet caramel malt going in gives way to an off-balance sour herb finish. I thought maybe large gulps would clear things up, but...same result. Not recommended.
