COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saranac Pale Ale is a classic English Pale Ale brewed with six specialty malts and aggressively-hopped with hand-selected English Kent Goldings & Fruggles hops. Look for a rich fruity hop bouquet. A copper amber color and a smooth, full-flavored taste with a crisp finish that only comes from a genuine top fermented ale. Enjoy!

Nice color and aroma, a typical microbrewed american pale ale.

A largely generic APA. Decent hops, decent bitters, but not creamy enough. Kinda boring.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2006 Above average, I guess; the finish is interesting, at first nothing, then some bitterness, followed by a faint sweet-tart hit. 7/1 Just had a 2nd one of these and am bumping it up a bit--esp the gorgeous look of it, with beautiful orange-red translucence topped by a nice head that sticks around a bit but doesn’t wear out its welcome. 7/5/8/4/14 3.8

December 2006 Wow was I on something when I rated this first? No, just inexperienced and generous....faint combination of citric and woody hops, dry hard body and rather mineralic finish, watery and dull....like most Matt products, somewhat stylistically close and not undrinkable, but this is certainly one of their blander, less memorable works.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2004 Fruity, hoppy and oddly dusty aroma, just a touch of sweetness present. Light-medium golden amber color, clear, with a creamy head and a good bit of lacing. Flavor is also largely hoppy and fruity, some citrus and apple/pear notes, just before the mildly bitter finish some honeyish malt sweetness appears. Bubbly, thin mouthfeel, light-medium body. Some decent hop flavors here but lacking balance and structure.

A very good American pale ale. In my state (Vt), this beer sells for $4.99 a six pack. I seriously believe it is equal to, or even better, than Sierra Nevada. It even has that nice velvety finish on the palate. A sleeper beer.

Nice pale ale - good color, nice fruity aroma and good hop character.

Most of Saranac’s brews are not very impressive. This happens to be one of their better ones.
