3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2003 Mildy impressed for an inexpensive American Pale Ale. Aroma a bit skunky but does not have that bitter aftertaste that many pales have. Nice thick creamy head and good dark amber color.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This beer poured an amber color and formed a nice white head that left a little lace. An aroma of hops and malt. A flavor of hops, malt and slight bit of chocolate. Not a bad pale ale, but I will probably stick with buying Columbus Brewing’s.

this has a nice body and some clean hop taste. is good for the price. Not too complex though, i dont think sarnac has mastered the EPA yet. . .

Beautiful pour leaves you with a generous white head atop a copper body. Saranac does itself credit with the beer itself as well -- pleasant British hop aroma translates well into the flavor, with a solid malt underpinning in support. Clean finish. All told, a solid British-style pale ale.

Nice copper appearance and more hoppy than I really expected. I would love to try the IPA.

best of the sampler (and only ale). color is right in between American and English pale ale colors - dark golden. this actually has a nice body -medium. very little head. malt and hop are fairly well balanced; they fight it out on your tongue at the end and the hops wins out by the judges vote. not bad.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2004 Clear orange with almost no head. Light grassy hops and light fruits in the nose, starts slightly bitter, and ends slightly sweet. Light bodied with a thin ending.
