COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saranac Pale Ale is a classic English Pale Ale brewed with six specialty malts and aggressively-hopped with hand-selected English Kent Goldings & Fruggles hops. Look for a rich fruity hop bouquet. A copper amber color and a smooth, full-flavored taste with a crisp finish that only comes from a genuine top fermented ale. Enjoy!

Saranac Pale Ale (US) - EPA - 5.5% 2.8/5

35 cl bottle, bb dec.2014. Copper color, short but lacing offwhite head. Hoppy nose. Aroma is sharp, hoppy with soap and citrus, yeast and burnt wood, yucky at first, don’t lnow if this bottle is too aged, but feels like homemade, alcoholic already. Taste is quite sour. Caramel malts and slight bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied. Quite solid EPA but not astonishing.

33o ml bottle from Tasty Life, Xiamen. Pours hazy amber with a dissipating white head. Aroma is malt and pine. Bitter metallic finish. Watery. Distinctly underwhelming.

I remember this being one of the first "microbrews" I had back when I was 16 as this was one of the few available. When Pete’s Wicked Ale was chocolatey hopped goodness long before they were bought by coors and reformulated to schwag. This pale ale is English instyle, malts offer notes of caramel, balanced bland hop profile gives a somewhat apple cider flavor. being an hour from where this is brewed and its mass production I will inevitably have this again when I’m stuck needing a beer and this is the domestic micro brew available.

Actually a pretty good pale ale. Nice lasting head. Aroma is caustic hop aroma... but still solid. Nice mouthfeel and actually pretty good flavor. As good as most pale ales out there a bit above average.

Stolen from the work fridge (yay!): Pours amber with a bubbly head and bubbly body. Aroma is toffee, detergent, some caramel, light hops. Taste is lightly sweet. Kind of nondescript. Aftertaste is light as well. This is easy to drink, but it is certainly not exciting to drink.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated and left some adequate lacing. The smell had some English malts up front (typical soapiness). There’s a light grassy hoppiness coming through. The taste was mainly malty and barely carried any hoppy bitterness back into the flavoring. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat smooth and tried to have some sort of harshness but even that was mostly hard to find. Overall, as an English Pale ale it works and honestly it’s not bad to me. Probably would have again with some fish n’ chips.

It pours a beautiful golden amber color with excellent clarity. The head foams up thick and white then thins out to a small thin cap. The aroma is full of fine English hops that are floral and pleasing. The hops are up front on the tongue and give a nice citrusy and earthy character to the flavor. Malts are lighter and add just enough sweetness and toasted flavor to the beer. The palate is smooth with a medium body and a crisp finish that make it oh so drinkable.
