Our Red IPA is a twist on a traditional West Coast IPA featuring a deep red color from European dark caramel malts. We brew with generous amounts of American hops including Calypso, Palisade and Chinook to give this IPA a distinctive hop aroma. You’ll notice a strong hoppy flavor with caramel malt undertones and a unique color that gives this IPA a whole new personality.

It’s a nice looking beer, amber with a full off-white head that retains well. The nose is more muted than I expected out of a beer claiming 63 IBU’s and I pick up as much of the malt as the hops. The taste is pleasantly malty and yet hoppy in the West Coast pine nut-citrus manner but a bit light bodied for the style that was attempted. Unremarkable and underwhelming for the style, but not a bad beer.

From a bottle. Pours clear reddish copper with a fizzy off white head. Tastes like malty grains, toffee, nutty, roasted. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like malty, musky roasted nuts.

Bottle from sampler pack. Pours clear amber/copper with creamy off-white head. Aroma is biscuit and cereal malts, floral hops, light apple, light raisin, and faint caramel. Flavor is dry malts, faint berries, light hop bitterness, and faint toffee stickiness; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottiglia 33cl @ locanda.

beerbill (3605) - Laurel, New York, USA - JAN 2, 2014
12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear coppery red with a moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of caramel, malt, and a bit of citrus. The flavor follows suit with light caramel and mild malt followed by some light citrus hops bitterness. A bit timid for an IPA, but not a bad beer.

Regular everything but color. Awesome red carbonated looks. Light body. Corny and some caramel. Some hops in the palate too, lasting enough. Decent choice.
