COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Red IPA is a twist on a traditional West Coast IPA featuring a deep red color from European dark caramel malts. We brew with generous amounts of American hops including Calypso, Palisade and Chinook to give this IPA a distinctive hop aroma. You’ll notice a strong hoppy flavor with caramel malt undertones and a unique color that gives this IPA a whole new personality.

Clear rubish red.Ok froth, light lacing. Some hoppiness in aroma as well as carmel maltiness, kinda grassy with citrus, dark berry fruits possibly. Has some body to it, but dryness and crispness as well, pretty citrusy with dark carmel/roast.Strong dry rhindy bitter a bit harsh hitting kind of dirty bitter. Flavors in this seem to clash some for my tastes. And reds are one if not my favorate type of beer, this doesnt interest me as much as most of the others Ive had.

A nice attempt at a red IPA. Had a good weight to it and a decent hop profile. Nice color and head.

I get sick of the people who write in and criticize any Saranac or Dundee beers. Two NY Brewers that have made good brews for years. Just about everything they make is Very Good , Easily drinkable product that is reasonably priced. Could they take more chances with what they are making? Of Course, but is what we are drinking from them worthy of the criticizm? I hardly think so. Are all of you that sophisticated? I HARDLY THINK SO.

Tap at Tyler's. reddish amber with a thick creamy meringue type head. Nose is earthy, minerals, light citrus, and dirt. Flavor tastes like every other saranac pale type ale I've had, dirty, a little metallic and a bittersweet finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an amber color. Not all that much on the nose. Citrus and hops present, somewhat metallic taste, but has a sour finish. Eh. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber body with a small fizzy beige head that faded quickly to a wispy film. The nose is lightly hoppy with some toasted maltiness, just a little sweetness. The flavor is pretty light on the hops to be called an IPA, much more toasted malt coming across than bitterness. Finishes with a bit of citrusy hops and grainy malt. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation. Not exactly a winner, pretty much on the level of what you expect from a Saranac.

A unique red IPA from Saranac. Good sweet reddish notes and a good hopfeel. Nice balance! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2013 The aroma is caramel, toasted, slightly nutty, light fruit. The appearance is amber/russet color, off-white head. The flavor is lie the aroma, caramel, nuts, toasted malt. The finish is astringent, noble hop like bitterness. Medium in body, slightly thin. Just ok.

Part of the Saranac 12 Beers of Winter variety pack - $13.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

"BB MAR 31 2013"

Appearance: Pours a deep, amber-tan body with a lofty, foaming, off-white head.

Smell: Pale malts rounded out by some toasty notes. Hops yield notes, albeit somewhat wimpy notes, of florals, resins, and citrus.

Taste: Pale malts, slight toast, even slighter brown sugar with a low sweetness. Floral, resinous, citrusy hop flavors follow, but they’re muted, just depositing some aspirin-like bitterness and fleeing the scene. Drying, lightly bitter finish with most of the flavors long gone by this point.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-light carbonation.

Overall: It’s like your old man banged on the door and told you to "turn that IPA DOWN!" Parents just don’t understand, man. You ain’t the boss of me, Saranac!
