COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An IPA with a wry twist, Saranac Rye IPA is an aggressively hopped brew, sure to take your taste buds on an adventure. We’ve stepped away from the mold of typical IPAs and selected premium rye malt and a unique mix of spicy hops. Look for a crisp, brazen finish.

Pours bland brownish orange. Taste is stale cheap hops and nothing else, why bother using inferior supplies.

White head with a golden color. Aroma has a caramel hint with a citrus hoppy flavor. It is a light IPA but very well balanced. Citrusy, earthy taste with a lasting bitterness. Surprising Light sweetness at the end.

Bottle. Very faint hop aroma. Seemingly clear amber colour. OK stable creamy tan head. Mild flowery hop flavour. Creamy mouthfeel, must be the rye. OK bitter finish, more aroma hop.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a mild, white head. Some earthy hops and caramel in the aroma. Light sweetness in the flavor, then mostly bitterness. Grassy, piney, earthy bitterness with a somewhat muddled, plastic finish. Light to medium in body with lively carbonation and slight alcohol. Some roastiness in the finish as well. The odd aftertaste seems to diminish as the beer warms a bit. Not bad.

This stuff isn’t very bold or up front with the hops compared to most IPAs but it is a good balanced ale. Fairly light and satisfying, I think calling it an IPA almost miscategorizes it. It’s more of a mild pale ale, but it’s good.

12 oz. bottle from a mixed Winter Saranac pack from A-1 Liquor in Indianapolis. Pours a clear yellow-gold color with a finger-thick eggshell white head. Notes of rye and citrusy hops jump forward, which is nice, and are followed by lemon citrus, straw, and earthy notes. No bitterness, a little light on the hops. Light-bodied, with active carbonation. Decent.

Bottle thanks to Eugene. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head, lots of lacing. The aroma is sweet rye and citrus hops. A sweet honey and rye flavor, light hops, light bitterness and rye tangy flavors. Not bad.

12oz bottle. Color is burnt golden clear. Aroma is muted hops and they come off as a bit like cleaning product. Flavor has a but sweet and spicy, even a light vanilla. More hops, lightly astringent and some cleaning product. But its got that nice nostalgic Saranac touch.

Clear yellow, whitish cover. Aroma is strange sweet malt, light spicy hops or rye. Taste is some spicy rye, caramel, citrus.
