Odyn (148), New York, USA May 27, 2008 Not a bad offering for summer ales. Doesn’t finish as cleanly as I wish it had, but has a full flavor. Malty scent.
tgncc (296), Bellmore, New York, USA Sep 29, 2008 Strong aromas of lemon, some light wheat. Appearance is straw gold, with a white head. The flavor is lemons, and light spices. The finish is slightly sweet, and fades quickly. Nice beer for a summer afternoon. borgination (78), Lee, Massachusetts, USA Sep 28, 2008 Pours a clear pale amber color with a thin off-white head with little retention and minimal lacing. The aroma has some citrus and malt in it. Light-bodied with light wheat, spice and fruit flavors. The finish is sweet with hints of malt and citrus. All in all this is an average beer like everything else I have tried from Saranac. 502Flavors (267), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Sep 3, 2008 12 oz into pint glass. Clear golden with good white head - I’m not one for golden white-headed brews though... sorry Saranac! Smells like light pale malt, water, and a bit of sweetness... like the other 3 saranac brews I sampled tonight from the mixed 12 pack of their summer beers... what a boring mix pack. Flavor is, yet again, very subtle - like a pale lager with a very trace amount of clove. Is this really a wheat beer? doesnt look or taste like one. Tastes like the clove of a wheat beer minus the wheat of a wheat beer. Really light with medium carbonation. Overall: poundable and boring. Dacrza (164), Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA Aug 31, 2008 Thin, clear golden orange-yellow body with a sudsy white head settling atop a Hoegaarden tumbler--why so much plaer than the Belgian white? the head leaves a slight tracing as the bottle drains... straw and lemon zest to the nose... a bit of pilsner malt plays a part as well... a freshness does exist here... softer yet more astringent than the Belgian in the sampler... malts provide a semblance of a body, but this is still light (purposefully, I imagine) and buttery/creamy on the finish... the malts rush the flavors straight back to the throat--a soft ale exists somewhere in this wheatness... this provides a nice feeling for summer, even if August in NJ has been unseasonably Autmumnal... shorter on hops to increase its drinkability, no doubt, this ale seems to attempt the "sparkling" aspect of a Cooper’s perhaps... not bad, but flavor is elusive... dkachur (882), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 30, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Fizzy and slightly hazy orange pour with a small head. Very citrusy lemon-like aroma with some yeast and spice notes. Taste is lemon, wheat and and straight sugar. Watery and inconsistent.
