3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MarkBarnes (349) - Waterville, New York, USA - DEC 17, 2011UPDATED: DEC 19, 2011 Dec. 16, 2011; on tap at "The Huddle On Main", Waterville, NY. Brand-new offering from Saranac, a hybrid of their IPA & Belgian White. Odd-looking, whitish (go figure!) beer (my wine-drinking companion likened it to dirty dishwater). :-) Ample head & sturdy lacing. Citrusy hops dominate this zesty beer, in aroma & flavor. Satisfying without being heavy. Strange combination, but this imaginative brew somehow transcends the sum of its parts. Looking forward to trying this again & rating at my leisure.
Rating continued Dec. 19, 2011: Sixers of this turned up in the local grocery store today; a chance to compare the bottled version to Friday night’s draft. Pour: cloudy, straw-colored "Boddington’s look; head & lacing less robust than the draft version. Aroma (nice!): grapefruit, herbs, spice; earthier as it warms up. Taste: Medium bitter, sour. Palate: Medium-bodied; some stickiness & astringency. Overall: Saranac brews tend toward being harsh & un-sweet. This is no exception; however, cutting the IPA with their Belgian White (Wheat) seems to have taken some of the edge off - creating in the process something probably more interesting than either brew individually - even if the lack of any serious malt presence in an IPA is slightly jarring.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Nephilium (1164) - Ohio, USA - JUN 17, 2013
Bready aroma with only a whisper of hops. Pours a hazy amber, with a thin white head. The orange, coriander, and wheat come through, with just a little bitterness in the finish. This comes across more of an American Wheat then a White IPA.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ryanscourt (303) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2013
Mix of Belgium spices and hops. Not bad. I like this style a lot. Hop flavor a little too much like strait from the pellet.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jrodooo5 (536) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - JUN 5, 2013
Hmm, pretty much what it seems. Has some nice wheat flavors up front and than finishes fairly dry and IPA like. Somehow it kind of works. Has a wheat look - straw pour with barely a white head and not much lacing. Aroma is an equal balance of hops and orange notes. Interesting if anything!

6th October 2012 Hazy gold beer, tidy white head. Fine particulate floaters! Light nose of apricot and pineapple. Palate is slightly soft with mild fine carbonation. Dry seltzer minerals. Traces of pineapple cube sweets and citrus. Mild creamy malt underneath. Semi dry finish with a touch of yellow graqpefruit. It’s fine but there are better white IPAs out there!

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2013 Very frothy at first pour, cloudy muted gold. Smells great: citrusy with a little bit of soap. Hoppy, but not too bitter, and lots of lemon and coriander. Light wheat finish. Very drinkable.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours cloudy golden; small white head but with lots of lacing. citrus fruits on the nose are predominant but you’ll also get some spices and some grain. Taste starts bitter and sour, lots of citrus notes, spicy and balanced with grain. Interesting beer worth trying.

Pours very cloudy orange with large while head. Very bitter and sour when first on the palate, and in a good way. Nose is all citrus. Notes of citrus, sour something-or-other, bread and, strangely enough, asparagus (!). Tasty, different beer. Might be the best thing Saranac has offered yet.
