2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma is on the sweeter side. Taste is lighter, but at the same time has a hint of hops. Overall a solid pilsener.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: 12 oz bottle from Sparrow, 5/11/14
Aroma: The nose is light and malty, some bread, grains, and some grassy hop notes
Appearance: Pours a clear gold color with a thin white head that leaves some spotty lace
Flavor: More hoppy flavor, with some bready/grainy sweetness, and a spicy, grass bitterness
Palate: The feel is light and clean, crisp and easy drinking, with an average-to-lively carbonation
This is a decent looking and tasting beer. It drinks pretty nicely, and works well. Not a ton unique going on here, but it has that crisp/clean feel you would hope for from this style. Would drink this again.

Bottle. Pours a tan color with a huge head. Taste comes off slightly hoppy but more of a pilsner lager. Very good session

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Apr. 28, 2014; 12 oz. can poured into a tumbler. Appearance is pure Pils in terms of color, bubbles & head. Zesty, lemony scent. Sturdy & balanced, with good mouthfeel and pleasant bitterness - but light & refreshing enough to be a warmer-weather beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Now available in cans! I was super excited to see that this was brought back this year. Something changed between last years offering in bottles and this yearís cans. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Pours as you would expect from a pilsner, light straw minimal head. Saranac is getting better...this is one of the better brews being offered. The hops give a slightly spicy spin on this one.

Golden straw, typical color.. fizzy small head. Simple, although positive aroma of hops and malt. Taste is simple, yet balanced.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tastes pretty much what the name says. Wild hops adds something to the typical golden lager. Tap at DC Beer festival.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Decent Pilsner. There is a hops presence here, which I appreciate. Whenever I see a Pilsner or a Kolsch in one of these Saranac mix packs, I kind of cringe, because Iím afraid itíll be the beer they make taste like a cheap adjunct lager to save on the overall cost of production for the mix pack. The beer being reviewed did not wind up falling into that category, and is instead a pretty worthy offering as far as Saranac brews go (Not the best in the mix pack, but not one of the annoying ones either). This ultilized a new type of hop called Belma hops that seem to be mildly fruity, and less bitter, that typical hops. Aroma was fairly muted compared to other hops varieties. Iíd prefer Cascade hops or something, but itís always nice to try something different, Iíve heard these hops are really cheap to get wholesale, which may mean they could be a key to the production of that really inexpensive somewhat-hoppy craft beer all of we low income beer aficionados crave as an option (Pretending that cost of production is the reason why itís not out there- though I know enough about economics to know that isnít the main reason). Itíd be nice to walk into a liquor store and see something like this in 12 packs next to Budweiser, or even cheaper brands like National Bohemian, Pabst, Schlitz, etc. at price parity. As a beer in a mix pack, itís only average, but I could see drinking a lot of it if the price was right.
