On tap at the Stogie and Stout event, 2008 edition. Pours a mildly murky brown with a dark tan head and weak spotty lacing. In the aroma I get earthiness, licorice, mild sweetness mixed with burnt roasty malts. The aroma has a sense of urgency and doesn’t mess around. The taste is lively with above average carbonation creating a sweet to roasty to burnt maltiness with a background of faint earthiness. Toward the finish I think I’m getting a bit of peat, or maybe not. I do get an unfortunate hint of metal right at the finish.

On draft at Stogies and stouts 2008 - Dunedin Brewery : Pours brown, with a thin offwhite head. I only got a faint aroma, but what was there was malty with some spice and chocolate. Malty taste as well, with the spice going away and the chocolate caramel taste picking up toward the end. Medium body, pretty good brew.

Draught sample at Stogies and Stouts 2008. Average scotch ale in every regard. A bit light on the peat in the aroma and flavor composition. Soda brown body, small light tan head. Dark caramel and nougat aroma, along with some backing dark malts and chocolate. Light to medium bodied, could have used a bit more heft. Medium length finish, dark malts and chocolate, then finally a small hint of smokiness.
