manuchampions (1236) - Vancouver, British Columbia, - DEC 30, 2009
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2009 330ml bottle from 16th St.Liquor in West Vancouver. Pours a rich golden hue with a lasting frothy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of white pepper, clove, lemongrass, bready malts, grassy hops, a touch of yeast, and phenolic. The taste starts with a crisp dose of bitters and citric fruit but is quickly vanished by replaced by light pale malt and yeast character with a heavy amount of supporting alcohol. Biting and sharp but seems overcarbonated, no masking the ABV here. Okay but no where near the quality of the better Belgian Strong Golden Ales out there or for that matter, Satan Red.

Pale gold with nice foam top. High carbonation. Some lemon and other citrus. In between Corona and Hoegaarden Grand Cru (coriander?). Not very complex but enjoyable. Short finish

Strong Belgian blond beer, with a dry touch and quite high on carbo. Bit like a Duvel.

Bottle at Piccadilly, Bodø. Pours a clear, dark straw colour with an off-white, creamy, medium head. Aroma of citrus, hay, pale malt, soap, Belgian yeast and some spices. The flavour has more soap, alcohol, Belgian yeast and grass. Has a strange bitterness in the aftertaste. Slick mouth feel, and has a light to medium bitterness. A little light strong ale with an alcohol touch. Feels a bit unbalanced.

Bottle 330ml. Pours golden, hazy, small cream head, excellent lacing. Nice but weak aroma of spices, cereal, yeast, hint of ripe fruits. Taste of fruits, yeast, corn cereal, spices, alcohol. Sticky texture, average to lively carbonation.
