$2.20 Bottle, Wine Warehouse, CHO. Pours... ok, there are chunks in this beer. Like chunks of snot or glue. Pours a chunk dark amber with a small head. Chunks settle to the bottom. Very mild aroma. Light maple and pumpkin. Some spicing. Taste is heavy nutmeg and cinnamon, light maple, pumpkin, and copper. The chunks turned out to be not-so-well blended spices as the beer was spicier the more I drank.

Captain Pumpkinís Maple Mistress has a thin, cream-colored head, a semi-clear, orange appearance, lots of tan sediment chunks all about, and no lacing left behind. The aroma is of a spiced broom and sugary syrup. Taste is of a strongly-, but not overly-, spiced pumpkin pie, with some maple sweetness. No alcohol shows itself. Mouthfeel is medium, and Captain Pumpkinís Maple Mistress finishes sweet, wet, and enjoyable. RJT

This was my favorite pumpkin beer of 2014. Everything I want from a pumpkin beer plus a little something extra (maple). I want a pumpkin beer to transport me to a Thanksgiving meal and itís time for dessert. The Maple Mistress does just that. Great pumpkin flavor which is heighten by the addition of butternut squash and spices which absolutely make you think pumpkin pie. Add some additional sweetness from another classic fall flavor with a splash of maple and itís heavenly.

Pours a coppery brown, slightly clouded, with a beige one-finger head with moderate retention that leaves slight but attractive lacing. The nose is a holiday kitchen: pie spices, pumpkin, maple. Unusually in this era of grandly named beers that do not match their marketing, this is a maple beer with maple taste. Thatís not the only thing thatís going in the glass, as vanilla, allspice and nutmeg join squash that takes on a roasted tone. Itís just a step short of the festive aroma, but still makes for a good taste mix, sweetish, but not cloying. This is an unexpectedly good fall-winter beer, with genuine pumpkin flavor enhanced by the splash of maple.

2014.12.13 - Saucony Maple Mistress - on tap at Always Rons. Pretty tasty. It's part pumpkin pie beer, but the maple definitely gives it some different angle. Tasty beer in its own right regardless of being a pumpkin beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy orange in color with a thin head. Very easy to drink. Super smooth with low carbonation. Light but with a rich favor. Nutmeg, maple, squash a little bit. Very balanced flavors. Not overwhelming in flavor.

Bottle. Pours a amber brown with a nice khaki head. Smells of spices and sweet tea. Lots of spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, tea leaves, allspice. Some pumpkin flavor and a little maple syrup sweetness on the front end followed by the spices. Tasty brew for the Fall.
