An amber style American Pale Ale, brewed with additions of caramel malts to balance the beer’s hoppy flavors. Named after the "Brightest Spot on the Great Lakes," the enormous Big Pavilion was Saugatuck’s signature landmark from 1909 until it burned down in 1960.

A decent pale ale. Nicely bitter with a hoppy finish. Pours golden yellow. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark in a turbid, soft brown way. Light barely, barely permeates. Kinda unappetizing in appearance. (End of keg?) Thickly floral aroma, and a bit of booze. Based on aroma and appearance, doesn’t seem like a pale! The flavor is very mellow, and bit vegetal, but freshly so. The palate borders on creamy smooth; nicely full-bodied & reasonably consistent in flavor throughout. All together, pretty damn nice; mellow, constant, and easy drinkin’.

On tap at Saugatuck brewpub. Hazy golden amber with a thin white head. Aroma is floral and grainy with pale and bready malts. Taste is floral and vinious with pale malts, light bready malts and finishes up moderately bitter.

Deep straw/copper body, slight head reduces to a wisp of white. Low soap and lower corn notes to a Continental hop nose, sharper herbs and grapefruit late. Surprisingly sharp herbal flavor accented by a dry, crisp mouthfeel. Low buttery notes detract (as well as a misplaced nuttiness). ~~~~~~~~~~~ Old notebook, rating undated, sample courtesy of RAYBOY01.

22 oz. bottle. Orangish red pour with huge head. Overflows. Settles into a rocky white thing. Aroma of strong bitter hops, some plastic and band-aids. Despite the obvious infection, the flavor is pretty decent. Very strong bitter hops, light sweet malt, and the chemically infection. One of the better infected brews I’ve tried. Hops really do mask most of it.

On tap at the pub. Golden beer with a little hazy to it. Thin white head. Nice hoppy nose. Strong hop resin flavor with grapefruit zest. Some bready malts and fruity sweetness before the long bitter finish. This was a nice beer to drink with the pub platter.

hazy light gold appearance, slight white head with some lace. mild nose of grain and something i can’t identify. flavor has a bitterness that i can’t attribute to hops, unusual. and disturbing. water bodied, odd bitter finish. really quite regettable.

Sample from RAYBOY01’s bomber at the Flossmoor Station mug club tapping: This had a golden body with a fizzy white head. The aroma had pine, a touch of citrus, and a hint of cat box. The flavor had a balancing light caramel, grainy sweetness, but an off taste of honey hit the back of my throat near the end.

Nice dark golden pour with white fluffy head that lingers. Nose is light pine and a touch catty. The flavor is biscuity, caramel, crystal malt sweetness, pine, citrus, and a bit of alocoholic dryness in the finish. Pretty decent brew.

On tap at the brewery. Clear Red copper with small beige head. Sulphury, citrus, spicey hops, dry. Flavor is malt forward caramel, off dry, citrus, pine, spice, herbal, slightly English with an English streak. Creamy, medium body. One of the best beers served.
