3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Aroma of malt and chocolate. Clear dark mahogany brown color, smooth 1" beige head, lots of lace streaks. Taste is malt with oak and chocolate that passes through a fizzy palate to a chalky, somewhat bitter finish. This is one of those brews in which the separate parts don’t make for a satisfying whole.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rated on 7-31-2015 (Bottle) This beer’s appearance is a small tan head that mostly diminished, dark brown body, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is nutty, chocolate and caramel malt. The flavor mimics the aroma. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is light-medium bodied. A quaffable easy drinking beer with little character. An easily forgettable beer.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation semi-opaque brown colored body. The mild aroma was brown malt. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish with a medium malty aftertaste. The mild flavor contained notes of roasted malt burnt malt and brown malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

Nice nutty flavor, with a good bitter balance and the slightest smokey undertone. Overall a very good Brown.

Bottle. Very average brown ale. Nothing at all special - pretty disappointing beer all told.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sample from a bottle. Up front, caramel malt; good nuttiness. Touch of chocolate, mild earth. Prefer it to the neopolitan I just tried. Moderate to bigger sweet taste, mild bitter. Kind of soft, lighter carbonation. Clear red / brown color. Thin off-white head. Bits and ropes of lace. Decent brown ale, but a bit sweet in the end.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rating #1213 31.07.2014 Bottle from Saugatuck. Dark brown pour with a weak bubbly tan foam that disappears quickly. Aroma is strong roast malts, coffee, chicory, campfire (smoke). Taste is bold earthy malts, with a light smokiness. Bitterness is fairly assertive. This is delicious.
