3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Heavier on the malt and lighter on the spice than a typical brown. Flavors of coffee, cereal grains, light cocoa powder, pecans and a hint of smoke and tobacco. Very smooth.

Bottle, 0.355l. Cloudy dark brown color with thin creamy tan-like head and average carbonation in palate. Aroma of caramel, roasted malt, chocolate, smoke and dark fruits. Taste starts with moderate sweet caramel malt, nuts and chocolate, follows by roasted sourness and smoky notes, mild spicy mouthfeel and mild bitter finish. Medium body, slick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Good to light up your desire for another one...

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
From a bottle. Pour is hazy brown, with a one-finger beige head, leaving a little lacing. Aroma is medium roasted caramel. Taste is strong roasted caramel, with some underlying bitterness. Mouthfeel is thick, and a little sweet. Finish is a little malty with the caramel flavor still persistent. A great brown ale for a cold winter day.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep dark brown with some clarity letting light through, three finger beige head. Nose is dark roasted malt, roasted barley, molasses, hints of chocolate. Medium body, with lively carbonation, sweet initial hit going to a well balanced long finish. Leaves flavors of brown sugar on the palate. Well rounded brown, nice to see a decent brown that is not hop forward.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
I was just asked if I want to ride in a car driven by two four year olds. I am hoping it is imaginary, but my answer is "no" regardless. Here is what Superspak says about what is turning out to be a subpar beer, at least in my humble opinion, "12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 3/3/2013. Pours hazy reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, toffee, toast, cocoa, light nuttiness, light roast, brown bread, light smoke, and floral hops. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malty notes, with good strength. Taste of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, toast, toffee, cocoa, brown bread, smoke, light char, light nuttiness, light coffee, floral, and light pine. Light pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, smoke, light char, toast, brown bread, coffee, and light pine on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of robust dark malt flavors; with a nice moderate hop balance; and minimal cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an damn nice brown ale. Nice balance and complexity of robust dark malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. I don’t think I’ve had a smoked brown before, but this was very well done; very enjoyable offering." He gives it a "4."

Bottle from one of the cousins in the barrio. Meh, it’s a brown ale with smoke. I expected notes of wimpersash and flaffertoosh, but nope, not in Michigan. Coffee aftertaste of roast and grounds. Gets better as I get older or I get less picky as I come to the hour of my death.
