3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Poured dark brown with a short-lived toasted beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, lightly-roasted black and cocoa notes with accents of vanilla.. not particularly exciting, but solid. The flavor found mostly roasted black malts at the core with light accents of vanilla.. fresh earthy and herbal hops worked well in there.. finished with bitter cocoa roast and vanilla. Medium-bodied at most on the palate, with just enough carbonation.. this was a tasty, well-balanced, easy-drinking stout.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle. First off, this shiz is 6.5% so check yoself. One thick and sugary stout for 6.5%. Tastes like a Stout fell in a bucket of cacao nibs and specialty malts. Thick and deep. Doesn’t really capture much that I want, but it is certainly bold. Unruly, thick, heavy, sweet. OK.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
True to its name, pours inky black with a sticky tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate and coffee with notes of anise/black licorice, toffee and malt. Oily but pleasant mouthfeel with flavors of cocoa, coffee and licorice. Not mind-blowing but very solid.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle. Drank this side by side with the BA version. Black with small head. Big and malty with chocolate and molasses, mild licorice. Light sweetness. Kind of clunky, compared to the BA version there are a lot of rough edges here.

Dark black, with no lacing. Nose of dark, ashy malt, coffee, dark chocolate. Taste follows with bitter hops and some licorice on the finish. Solid and not complaints.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an oily black with a full, thick, tan head. Roasted malts and licorice stand out most in the aroma, which are than complimented by coffee, chocolate, and cherry. The taste brings out much more chocolate. While still being heavy on roasted impressions, this is balanced by cherry and licorice. The aftertaste is lighter, which begins with roasted malts, and leaves you with licorice. The body is much lighter than I was expecting. It has a creamy texture, with flatter carbonation. I like this. A solid stout.
