A British style Extra Special Bitter inspired by classic British style pub ales with an even balance of nine different malts, matched perfectly with a hint of smooth hops. ESB/Amber has a beautiful deep amber body and is a smooth, easy drinking ale. 13.9°

355ml bottle pours amber in color with a finger of off-white head that settles to reveal only a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel and light roasted grains with some mild chocolate and citrus. Taste is a light citrus and grass hop bitterness with a bit of toasted notes and chocolate and caramel malty sweetness. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a nicely flavoured brew that is enjoyable and worth checking out.

Medium to bold body, with an aroma of pineapple, rye bread graininess nettles with holiday fruitcake spices in the mouth feel which is slightly more noticeable after a short pause or later sips.

Rating #1207 - 29.07.2014 - Another advance from Saugatuck. Pours a deep golden amber colour with a foamy off-white head that dissipates slowly, medium-strong retention. Aroma is mild grass, mild honey. Hop presence is significant, giving the bitter character with a hint of toffee honey sweetness. Well balanced, medium bodied ale that is easy to drink. Cheers.

Twelve ounce bottle from Saugatuck sampler 12 pack purchased at Jeff’s Marathon, tasted on September 13, 2015. Very dark brown amber hue, aroma more like an amber than an ESB, flavor has some ESB character but more like an amber with an attitude. Not bad but might have been a bit old.

Bottle at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear amber colour with thin white head. Aroma of caramel, toasty malt, some bread, subtle honeycomb and earthy hops. Taste of caramel, toasty malt, some bread, a little vanilla, subtle metallic tones and earthy hops. Light bodied and moderate carbonation. A sweetish, soft earthy bitterness in the finish. Nice, sweet malty flavours but I find it too bland, not a good ESB.

Pours a dark amber with a thin white head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, fruity hops, and an almost oaky/vanilla aroma. Flavor is mostly malts: caramel and toffee, with that same vanilla undertone. Has low bitterness. Pretty good.

good balance, smooth, mild bitterness. Biscuity, caramel malts. So boring for me and the style. Balance is good but very toned down. A bit of spice on the hops with a light citrus zest note.

355ml brown bottle. Orange-golden colour with a light haziness. Long lasting sticky white head. Nose has sweet caramel malts and some orangey hops. Taste is malty - grains and caramel, a little toasty with some late hops. Low bitterness, aftertaste is malty. Creamy mouthfeel. Pretty good ESB.

Poured dark amber with nice fluffy white head. Complex malt aroma. Caramel. Sweet maltiness, complex flavor also. Medium carbonation, with very little hops. Nicely balanced esb.
