A British style Extra Special Bitter inspired by classic British style pub ales with an even balance of nine different malts, matched perfectly with a hint of smooth hops. ESB/Amber has a beautiful deep amber body and is a smooth, easy drinking ale. 13.9°

Bottle. Somewhat murky amber pour with a small soapy head. Earthy, dusty, a little sweet. Some caramel / toffee. A little bitter like old coffee grounds are bitter, but not coffee aroma/flavor per se. Just reminds me of a coffee filter a bit.

Bottle split at GBBF, day 2, 13/08/14 - thanks to Kenvold. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is caramel, light spice, straw, faint citrics. Taste carries a light hop presence, bread dough, biscuit malt, earthy, toffee. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Adequate, not too exciting though.

Interesting name (it’s actually "ESB/Amber" on the label), leaving me wondering how it will be classified on the site. It’s good looking, amber, almost copper in color, clear with a dense but modest head. The aroma is almost-caramel with a woodiness to it along with a splash of tonic water. The flavor is of white bread with a dollop of caramel and an earthy, herbal bitterness, not intense, but strong enough to catch one’s notice. The finish is rather dry with a lasting earthy bitterness. Not bad at all.

Incredibly surprised by the low ratings on this one. Very flavorful. Slippery like an ESB should be. But, there’s a toasty malt profile that knocks this one out of the park. Highly recommended.

Bottle at GBBG 2014. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is earthy, toasty, brown bread and twig. The taste is bitter-sweet, brown bread, leather, sticky caramel and wood with a dry finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty basic.
