Reviewed from notes. I poured this into a pint glass. The appearance was a nice hazy looking amber to brown color. There was about a finger’s worth of foamy white head that once it dissipated there were some decent looking foamy rings. Carbonation was seen rising. The smell was bready and had some nice roasty caramel notes filling my nose. The taste was roasty and nutty bready sweetness with an in and out sort of caramel-ness. I didn’t get any aftertaste but the finish was actually quite smooth. The palate was fairly smooth and had a carbonation suited well for the ESB style as it had a somewhat creaminess running about it. Overall, I say this was a fairly good ESB worthy of having again, however due to where I live, I won’t be seeing this unless I got it in a trade.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly cloudy orange amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduced to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, orange zest, apple, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, orange zest, apple, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and toast/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy/herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, orange zest, apple, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and toast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good ESB style. Good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Sweet candy and malty taste. Thicker pallet. Full flavor. Not like a esb I remember. Had this poured from draft at saugatuck brewpub in Michigan.

Rated on 8-21-2010 at Fort Wayne, IN Gathering. This bottled beer courtesy of jsquire pours a small head that mostly diminishes, hazy golden body, no visible carbonation, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malt and bitter hops. The taste is lightly bitter, malt and citrus hops. The palate is tingly and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is not overly bitter tasting, but there is a lingering bitter aftertaste. There is not a lot going on with this beer as it lacks character and is a so-so beer.

Bottle pour to shaker. Hazy dark amber. Malty, slightly sweet. More amber than ESB, overall.

Had it out of a bottle. Pours a rich copper color with a thick yellow head that dissipated quickly but not all the way. Aroma is of earthy hops and pine, and the taste is thick with a malty caramel flavor.

Brilliant amber pour. Two-finger off-white head that settled into a creamy 1/2 inch. Modest carbonation. Sweet, grainy, nose with hints of malt. Medium-full body. Less malt and bitterness on the palate than expected given the ESB label. Forward bitterness that lingers. Short. Some Belgian lace. Drinks well. Quenching but not exciting. Will neither seek out nor decline.

Advertised as a balanced ESB, this is far more on the malty side with sweet, caramel influences. Close your eyes to what it says on the label and you’ll just say yummy. Enjoyed on tap at Town Pump Tavern in Detroit.

AMber pour with a gigantic head, you would think its a belgian. Totally uncontrollabel head. The smell is pleasant, herbal hops, spices, bread malt, hint of fruitiness and some etal. Mouthfeel is super-carbonated it is like drinking pop rocks. Flavor is lightly malty, lightly hoppy, kind of hard ot pick out flavors due to the carbonation issue.
