Do not be confused by the name ESB. It’s more of an Amber then an ESB. Their flagship brew will keep me coming back for more.

Nice golden amber color with carb just right. Maltiness comes through in nose. Taste complex maltiness with good balance. Finishes with a bit of bitterness coming through.

Incredibly surprised by the low ratings on this one. Very flavorful. Slippery like an ESB should be. But, there’s a toasty malt profile that knocks this one out of the park. Highly recommended.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly cloudy orange amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduced to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, orange zest, apple, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, orange zest, apple, light nuttiness, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and toast/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy/herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, orange zest, apple, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and toast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good ESB style. Good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Dark amber pour with plenty of slightly offwhite head. Nothing special with aroma but nice mouth feel and super smooth. Maybe a bit creamy feeling. Not as bitter as their description or other ESBs I've had. 12 oz bottle ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 29, 2012 Amber color, with medium head. Taste was as described: both malt sweetness up front, with lingering hop bitterness. Much more taste than typical Amber!

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Slightly cloudy amber brew with a thinish off white head that diminishes to frothiness. Aroma of malt and grassy hops. Taste is a fine blend of sweet butterscotch malt with a fine lingering bitter hops finish. Very nice.

Smells of sweet bread....Two finger head after the pour.....Taste is quite malty.....Pretty good mouth feel.....Nice lacing left on the glass......Palate is malty as well....Not a bad beer, but not my favorite style.

Bottle. Toffee malt aroma. Medium amber with moderate head. Mildly sweet toffee malt and pepper flavor. Nice body. Solid.

Tap. Clearish dark red. Thinnish but in a good way. Yeasty nose. Great caramel balanced with bitter malts. A bit more of a red than an ESB though.
