5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Do not be confused by the name ESB. Itís more of an Amber then an ESB. Their flagship brew will keep me coming back for more.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 29, 2012 Amber color, with medium head. Taste was as described: both malt sweetness up front, with lingering hop bitterness. Much more taste than typical Amber!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Slightly cloudy amber brew with a thinish off white head that diminishes to frothiness. Aroma of malt and grassy hops. Taste is a fine blend of sweet butterscotch malt with a fine lingering bitter hops finish. Very nice.

Smells of sweet bread....Two finger head after the pour.....Taste is quite malty.....Pretty good mouth feel.....Nice lacing left on the glass......Palate is malty as well....Not a bad beer, but not my favorite style.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
This bottled brew from a rating party poured a head of foamy light off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a softly carbonated transparent light amber colored body and a fair lacing. The aroma was mild with malty soft citrus notes. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of bitter hops and mild caramel. A decent quaff-able one that I would consider drinking again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a slightly hazy deep copper-amber with a fairly buoyant larger-bubbled khaki head that settles to a thin film and leaves substantial sticky lace behind. Nose involves some bubble gum, some earthy tea leaf-esque hop notes, almost a touch of honey, and some hearty doughy yeast. Taste is fairly sweet and fairly bitter, well balanced. Medium bodied, softer yet still active carb, with a somewhat dull finish. Not a bad beer, quite quaffable, nice to look at. A couple less-than-desirable features, but nothing too detracting from the experience.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Out of the bottle I brought back from Saugatuck. Golden amber color with a thin white head. Light yeasty nose with some hop bitterness. Hoppy grass and citrus rind bitterness with some buscuit and noticable alcohol when you exhale. Long bitter finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Soft malty aroma, rich amber color, clear, moderate head that sticks around. Smooth and medium body, nice finish with flavor, but not too much. A nice amber.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a cloudy dark orange-amber color with a decent head. Aroma is fairly faint pale malt mixed with some earth hops. Taste is pretty good. Mostly pale malt balanced with the hops. Slight spicy and citrus taste is good. Solid bitterness. Not sure I would call this an ESB. Itís closer to a Pale Ale with the hoppiness. And the high carbonation would knock it out of ESB as well. Iím pretty surprised this won Best in Show at the World Beer Expo in Frankmuth. Itís a solid beer worth trying though.
