(draft @ Saugatuck Brewing - Douglas, MI) Dark brown pour with a creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some hints of strawberry and chocolate. Flavor is exactly like eating neapolitan ice cream. Chocolate moves to vanilla moves to a light strawberry hint at the end. Creamy and roasty.

Very sweet. Definitely tastes like Neapolitan ice cream. A decent choice, But nothing overly notable

Pours dark brown to black with decent sized mocha head that settles leaving stringy, soapy lace. Nose involves strawberry cereal/candy notes, dark chocolate, and toast. Really sweet, lightly bitter. Medium body, sticky, syrupy, soft carb, vanilla makes its appearance on the finish. Sort of like drinking a float. It’s OK, but definitely nothing I would want more than a few ounces of. Just too sweet.

Bottle. Pours black with brown head. Aroma remains me strawberry waterpipe. In taste chocolate, coffee, sweetness and no alcohol. Great example of milk stout.

On tap at Barley Brothers. Dark brown pour with a small beige head. Aroma is exactly like neapolitan ice cream - strawberry candy dominates, with some lactose, cherry and chocolate. Flavour is sweet and candyish strawberry, with some roasty flavours, touch of cocoa. A little heavy on the sweet strawberry, but still tasty and very original.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. Artificial sweetness in the smell. Chocolate ice cream, Tootsie Roll, and melon candy scents. Also a bit of tang; almost a lime scent. Pours dark brown with an amber to medium brown glow and a small amount of tan head. The taste features a dessert sugary sweetness over a char. Interesting flavors include charred wood. I do eventually get the strawberry, mainly in the form of strawberries and cream or strawberry yogurt. The woody, almost smoky, char quality combined with chocolate and sweetness evokes a s’more. Weird mix of umami and sweet flavors. Cigarette-like aftertaste. Medium body. Somewhat smooth in the palate. Boring palate effects plus off-putting aftertaste equal subpar palate. Overall, the beer is odd but interesting and not what I expected. It’s not bad, but it is kitschy and unnatural.

Noire.

Shared with northropfrye. Well, I certainly loved this beer! I could both smell and taste the cocoa, strawberry, and vanilla, and it was all wonderful. Some might say it’s too sweet or one-dimensional (3-dimensional in this case?) but frankly I love sweet, and this beer is doing something different and nails the neapolitan flavours, in my opinion.
