Neapolitan Stout is a unique blend of milk sugar, chocolate, vanilla beans, and strawberries. This decadent specialty stout has developed a cult following and just one sip will tell you why! 16.4į

Pretty darn good milk stout-- big, complex flavor but very drinkable. I might have rated it higher but this beer embodies one of my pet peeves-- artificial coloring in a craft beer??? As if that werenít enough-- CARMEL coloring needed for a freaking Milk Stout?? I donít know enough about brewing to guess why this is necessary, but something offends me in a basic way when you have to dye a stout carmel. I mean come on. All that aside, it really is good. Tip: this one is absolutely excellent for stout cooking duties (especially slow roasting beef). Good beer. . what I wouldnít do to know its natural color.

Bottle from Suchy3! Pours deep brown with a nice tan head. Big aroma of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry (just as advertised!). Taste is the same, but a little dry and finishes chalky. Would like a bit less lactose and maybe something to smooth things out (oatmeal?) Definitely not bad though!

12 ounce bottle. Vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry in the aroma. Appears black with tan head and residue on the glass. Taste was cola, roasted milk chocolate, marshmallow, and artificial strawberry sweetener. Palate was light side of medium bodied, higher than average carbonation. Overall, this was a fine beer, but Iím not going to buy it again. Thereís a sentence under the "Neapolitan Milk Stout" name on the bottle that I donít understand: "Nostalgic flavors of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla...Ours flavors the Mt. Baldy radar tower, a local landmark installed by the U.S. Air Force in 1957."

Bottle. Pours dark black in color with a small brown head. Aroma is roasty but the strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate all come through a bit. The roast is not as present in the taste which is good. The neapolitan flavors are all there but itís a bit chalky in the finish. Somewhat thick and creamy mouthfeel is nice here. If this wasnít chalky it would be really good. I still enjoyed it though.

Bottle. So I guess when you canít choose between 31 Flavors or Guinness, you go with this. Pours a nice ístoutyí (brown-black) color, thick beige head with good retention and tons of lacing. Besides the roastiness, the nose smells like a bowl of strawberry ice cream (no shit!). Mouth is medium bodied, mildly bitter-sweet with roasted barley and chocolate up front, then a hint of vanilla and then the strawberry notes (they mustíve spent a long time getting it to have three distinct sections in order like the ice cream looks in the carton). I have to admit, I was HIGHLY skeptical of this when I saw it, but it actually is pretty damn good.

Aroma is milk sweetness and berries/strawberries. The flavor is strawberries, hints of chocolate and vanilla, roasted malts and a smooth/medium sweet finish.

Pours a black with a tan head. As they advertise, the aroma consists of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. The strawberry really comes out and I get a strong impression of ice cream. Taste has a lot of strawberry and vanilla. Some good roasted malts along with chocolate are found underneath. This is more on the sweeter side. Shorter aftertaste of strawberry ice cream. The texture is creamy, while being medium in body. This is different and tasty. It is made very well. I canít say Iíve really had anything like this before.

On tap. Pours black with a thick creamy white head. Scent is vanilla, berry. Taste is as advertised, just like neapolitan ice cream, lots of vanilla, very milky, strawberry, very sweet.

On tap. Pours near black with a dark brown brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of roasted malts and chocolate with a light strawberry and vanilla. Flavor starts with roasted malts and chocolate that mellow to let strawberry and vanilla. Works really well!

Four pack purchased at Binnyís, poured into a New Glarus pint glass. Pours a pitch black in color with a fingers worth of cocoa colored head. Head dissipates slowly and leaves some elegant lacing as it goes. Nose is heavily comprised of the roasty notes of the base stout, there is very subtle vanilla and strawberry in the background, but itís very muted. The flavor starts out chocolate and some artificial strawberry, and finishes heavily on the roast. I know the strawberry is artificial here, but I actually think it works pretty nicely with the beer here and really recreates neapolitan ice cream....itís pretty impressive. The mouthfeel is moderate to heavy with the roast creating a harsh acrid finish, it seems almost a little boozy, but doesnt really have the heat. Itís dry and has a moderate finish. Not a bad beer, a little too roasty, dry for me, but it was worth checking out. Happy to see it hit shelves here.
