23rd October 2011 Opaque black beer, good pale tan head. Light dry palate with moderate carbonation. The head is milky and tangy. Lactose sweetness contrasts with the somewhat bitter dark malt. Well judged vanilla and sweet tart strawberry. The finish is dry and with dark malt roast bitterness (the dark chocolate factor). Interesting beer - a good idea that could have easily been a disaster, but this is well executed.

Draft. Poured a black color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy chocolate, sweet fruit and vanilla aroma. Medium to heavy milk chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a good sweet beer.

Thanks to dcschiller for the pour! Nearly black color. Tan head that disappears very quickly. Aroma off cocoa powder, lactic sweetness, roast. Flavor is bitte, chocolate, roasted malt, prunes and finishes with lactic sweetness. Just ok.

Bottled. Poured deep brown with a tight-bubbled yellowy-beige head. They nailed the aroma, with sweeter chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla notes present.. darker chocolate roast struck a good chord with me.. well done. The flavor wasn’t as solid.. sweet-ish chocolate and lesser roasted coffee at the core, brighter lactose and a touch of vanilla and oxidation around.. picked up a little artificial strawberry at the end.. nothing offensive, but it didn’t flow that well. Medium-bodied and grainy on the palate.. a little tacky and funky in the end.. interesting brew overall, but not a great one.

Sample at Kalamazoo Beer Exchange. Pours brownish-black with a thin light beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malt and vanilla. Medium body with flavors of sweet chocolate malt, vanilla and a bit of fruit. The finish is chocolatey with a sweet aftertaste. Interesting idea and relatively well-executed gimmick.

Bottle. Strawberry and chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown with giant tan head. Sweet berry, chocolate malt and moderately bitter herbal hops and ash flavor. Pretty good.

On tap. Pours near black with a dark brown brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of roasted malts and chocolate with a light strawberry and vanilla. Flavor starts with roasted malts and chocolate that mellow to let strawberry and vanilla. Works really well!
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 thedm (4773) - Fort Wayne, USA - DEC 27, 2012
This $2.59 bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a large sized head of foamy light brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation dark brown colored body and a thick foamy lacing. The mild aroma was brown malt and chocolate. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of roasted malt and dark malt. There is somewhat a strange combination with the roastiness out of contact with the mild milk stout chocolate I anticipated, A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and a touch of roast. It pours a dark brown with some red highlighted transparency and a large creamy light brown head that has great retention. There is some nice webbing left behind for lacing. The flavor starts with a quick dose of milk chocolate. Vanilla, strawberry, and a touch of roasted coffee come into play in the finish. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Overall, it’s exactly what it advertises and I think it really works well without being too sweet.
