Aroma is big on strawberry. Some chocolate as well. Just like Neapolitan. Looks good. Dark black. Looks like a medium body. Good lacing. Taste is chocolate and strawberry. A little acidity in the middle. A little rough on the palate. Thin medium body. Rough finish. A pretty solid sweet stout. Nice strawberry flavor. Not crazy good but pretty solid.

650ml brown bottle. Near black pour, big tan head with good retention and attractive lacing.. Nose has strawberry and chocolate. Taste has some dark chocolate malt, berry notes. Roasty finish. Medium bodied. Not getting the vanilla anywhere, but good anyway..

On tap @ Farmhouse. Dark chestnut brown. The aroma does capture the essence of Neopolitan ice cream, with a heavy lean toward chocolate. Flavours of milk chocolate, vanilla cream, and strawberry in the finish. Quite remarkable, but very sweet!

12 oz bottle: Aroma is chocolate malt, vanilla, and a bit of strawberry notes. Appearance is a deep dark black with a thick head that sticks around for a while. Taste is really nice taste of Neapolitan ice cream chocolate malt characteristics, vanilla beans, and strawberries in the backing. Palate has a lingering vanilla and strawberry note. Overall, Pretty darn good stuff in my honest opinion. Cheers!

October 16, 2014 - on tap at Valley Tap. Dark brown pour with nice head that lasted and thick lacing. Atoma was like ice cream, milky, vanilla and strawberry. Taste was somewhat consistent with aroma though not as strong flavors and a bitter finish that seems out of place.

Bottle; Pour is dark brown with amber highlights - the head is khaki, two finger deep, with average retention and sticky lacing present here. Perhaps over carbed, but whatever. The nose is strawberry / vanilla ice cream notes initial - I mean it really straddles a line for me from feeling authentic and artificial - I have no idea what was used on the strawberry side so its just conjecture. Either way , the nose is probably the highlight on this brew, moving to the chocolate and lactose notes , with feint roast presence. The flavor profile presents a more typical milk stout base, with cream, abundant sweet strawberry / vanilla, with mild chocolate , roast , and feint earthy notes near the finish lines. I get it - but it’s not exactly my thing at this point.

Transfer from BA review on 1-27-14- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a deep brown color with one finger of a fluffy tan colored head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a tons of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is just what you would expect from a Neapolitan. It is big of a chocolate aroma mixed with other sweeter smells of vanilla and caramel. Complementing these smells nicely is a big milky lactose smell as well as some notes of roastiness, producing a milk chocolate bar like smell. The final of the Neapolitan aromas, that of strawberry, was quite noticeable as well, with it taking on a strawberry puree smell. Overall very rich and delicious. Taste – The taste begins with a roasted malt and sweet milk chocolate taste. The lactose chocolate flavor has nice notes of vanilla and a light bit of caramel mixed within. More milk and cream flavors enter the tongue more in the middle of the flavor profile, sweetening the brew even more with it taking on a almost hot cocoa like flavor. The strawberry that was detected in the nose comes to the tongue at that time, starting out lighter, but really growing in intensity as the flavor moves on to the end. The strawberry itself if quite authentic tasting, almost as though you can taste a bit of the pureed flesh of the berry. In the end, with the strength of the strawberry nicely complementing the chocolate and vanilla flavors of the brew, one is left with a nice Neapolitan ice cream flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thicker and creamier side with a carbonation level that is on the lower side. Both were fantastic of the rich flavors of the brew and made for a mouth coating feel that bathed the tongue in all the wonderful flavors. Overall – A very tasty take on a rich chocolate milk stout with the addition of the strawberry in there. This was a very tasty brew and makes for a wonderful dessert beer.

650ml bomber pours a deep amber color with a 2 finger light tan head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is strawberries and chocolate with perhaps a hint of roasted grains. Taste is a chocolate and strawberry sweetness with a light roasted grain bitterness. Medium bodied with decent carbonation. Only the second stout that I have had with strawberries and vanilla and one that is definitely worth checking out. Good stuff.

Black colour, firm beige head. Aroma of candy, groene kikkers snoep, sugar syrup, milk. Sweet flavour, cheap chocolate, condensed milk, candy. Sweet finish, cheap chocolate, caramel. Bit weird, reminding of the green frogs candy.

Deep, pitch black coloured body with only the slightest hint of light coming through at the bottom, all with a thinnish, single centimetre tall rich brown head. Aroma of booze, alcohol, whiskey, oak, milk, fudge, cherries, coffee, roasted malt and strawberries - super pungent but nice. Full-bodied; Deep, dense flavour of roasted malt, mushrooms, cherries, strawberries, tobacco, figs, fudge and a lot of alcohol throughout. Aftertaste shows a lot of complexity with flavours ranging from a sweet stout to an imperial stout and back to an altbier - very interesting, but pungent all around and it will leave you guessing throughout. Overall, a nice and super complex beer that doesn’t fit any profile of the style on the site or on the bottle - interesting and enjoyable on every sip. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 02-August-2013 for US$2,79 sampled at home in Washington a bit more than a year later on 23-September-2014.
