Quite hoppy for an APA, citrus and piney. Not a lot of maltiness to balance the hops. Overall big for the strength. Serving: Bottle

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BrownALEx (140) - Portland, Michigan, USA - MAY 17, 2013
Going into this with high expectations, it cost 2.49. Only really good beers are 2.49 right? Here goes....from the open it already smells skunky. After the pour and closer to the glass, yep that is skunk. Strike one. It pours a clear, straw yellow with a great pillowy head. Ball one. Taste is bitter but not overly bitter, a hint of skunk is there. Foul ball but counts as strike two. Palate is quite long and bitter. Ball two. Overall this is not a great beer but it is not terrible. Probably will not seek again. A little dribbler to the second baseman, thrown out at first.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hophaze (77) - South Bend, Indiana, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Bottle. Pours golden brown with medium head and lacing. Aroma of citrus hops. Average APA that finishes with a little too much malt for my liking, especially for an APA
----Hophaze out

Golden beer out of the bottle with a small white head. Light malty nose with some hop resin notes. Well balanced pale ale with some biscuit and cracker flavors and a tastey citrus hop bitterness. Easy drinking sessionable pale ale.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Alextricity (177) - Chesterfield Twp., Michigan, USA - MAR 20, 2013
Was the "Mystery Beer" at Green Dot Stables in Detroit, Michigan for the week of February 3rd at a price of $3 a bottle. Since I had it straight from the bottle, I can’t speak for the appearance of this one...
Smell: From the get-go I can tell you that in the smell and taste this beer just had that "wet trunk" vibe, which I’ve had in a few beers. It’s a really musky, dank aroma, and it’s hard to really explain what else it smells like.
Taste: Much like the smell... almost exactly. The finish has is pleasant and not very bitter with a nice flavor of malts left on the tongue. Pretty much beginning to end though, Pathfinder has that trunk-like flavor. The feel is nice -- nicely carbonated. If this beer wasn’t as carbonated as it is, I think it would get a much lower rating from me, as I think it would then just taste like trunk mildew...
An average APA. I’m absolutely glad that I tried it, but it’s just a fairly weak beer. Pretty forgettable. On the other side of things, I look at it like... it’s a much better APA than the crappy ones I’ve given low ratings to. That’s why it gets the rating it gets.

Aroma and taste were "hoppy" for an APA. Slightly cloudy blond color. Lots of flavor for 4.9% ABV!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheAlum (4289) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - MAR 3, 2013
Cask pour at Day/Night of the Living Ales 2013 at Goose Island - Wrigleyville (Chicago, IL). Pours a lightly hazed straw yellow hue, touches of inviting golden glow. Firmer bubbly whitish head atop dies to a film, laces small. Aromas are gentle citrus, lemon and orange, some grass, florals, bready malts. Initial is firmer bitter hops, resiny and florals, some lemon citrus and rind come into play. A bigger bitterness, small malt bill offer up. Middle is bigger bitterness, big florals, bitter earth, grass and lemons, some grapefruit. Mellow bready malts, straw, crisp grain. Backend is bitter, dry, resiny, a touch cereal grain offers up. Dry and bitter, dandelions, florals, grapefruit and lemons. Bigger bitterness and raw feel up front tapers off, dry and richer. Nice. Really fun find.
