Savant IPA :: Savant Just Knows Itís a Great Beer.

Without knowing quite why, Savant IPA knows a lot. It knows that itís built on Northwest 2-row malt, with touches of Munich, Cara-red and C-120 Crystal. It knows that it weighs in at around 6.3% alcohol by volume, that itís bittered with Northwest Chinook and finished with fruit-juicy New Zealand Nelson Sauvin hops. It knows that itíll be back as the first Manic IPA from Elysian Brewing in the new year of 2014, available in 22-ounce bottles and on draft. It knows that 22 ounces is the same as a touch over 650 milliliters (and 13012 drops for anyone whoís counting), but what it mainly knows is that itís a great beer.

Pours a clear copper color with a beige head. Nice lacing. Nose of citrus and tropical fruit. Seems guava to me. Near full bodied. Lots of floral and fruit. Not of Medium body. Flavor of caramel malts with citrus. Bitter finish. Great.

More crisp and clean than expected but the hops are still fairly pungent. Fruity Nelson and some earthy dankness. Enjoyed the bomber.

Visual: Pours almost clear toffee brown with a smallish head, a thin murky layer of retention, lots of fast steady streams. Nose: brown sugar toffee malt, lightly toasted, traces of woody apple juice. (lvl-4)-pungency Attack: crisp-slick-tingly Mid-palate: bright, (lvl-4)-sweetnesss, (MAIN) red apple, caramel maltd Finish: alcohol detection, dry stealth mild bitter lingering hopped finish. Summary: A rather fruity IPA as opposed to herbacious or piney; didnít have a whole lot of passion fruit as advertised, but some citrus. Drinkable, but the finish is a bit flat.

A better than average IPA that hits many appreciable notes: grove citrus, mellon, with a dry edge. This is very drinkable, but a tad thin in body for my liking. Overall, a nice 22oz bottle from Elysian.

Rating 1128 - 10.06.2014 - On tap at Beer Revolution. Lots of punchbowl hops) erupting from this foaming amber pour. Sharp hoppy overtones of citrusy, tropical sweetness pronounced into a firm bitterness, a balanced, crisp finish. Quite Nice.

22FL OZ ($4.99 Bottle) this was a very very good IPA. I have only had a few IPAs i can say are better. This is the most well rounded Iíve had in recent history. Find it, drink it, love it, you wonít regret it.

29 May 2015, tap. Dark orange, hazy, some bubbles. Nose is sweet, orange pulp, grapefruit. Ned body and mildly fizzy. Very sweet, malty, bitter orange rind, orange pulp. Nice enough for a sweet ipa but not great.

Nice malt hop combination for an IPA. Good nose of citrus and it drinks orange to complement the aroma. Nice looking beer, good to throw back while chatting with friends, not crushable, not shareable either.

22 bomber to cervoise. Pours hazy copper. Off-white head has excellent lacing. Aroma of caramel and some citrus. Taste is big on malts. Caramel. Hops are light citrus and floral. Kinda weak. Finish doesnít last. Zzz.
