FatPhil (9616) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 20, 2009
500ml bottle (Maxima, Vilnius)
Mid orange, brief scummy head. Slightly alcoholic and even more slightly caramelly aroma. OK carbonation, sweet palate. Pretty alcoholic in the mouth - some sweet spiciness, and then some pure grain spirit heads up your nose! Swallowing simply gives those vapours a chance to circulate up through your passages again, so best to just glug this whole pint in one swallow. Finish has quite a biting bitter kick. Almost like hops, too. A touch paper, but not leaving anything too horrific in the mouth. Gets you there, no doubt, particularly if you follow my earlier advice... Discovery - as it warms, the aroma gets more perfumey, the body more malty, and the palate a touch softer - so don’t drink too cold, it’s too spiky that way. Bumped it up a couple of decimals because of that.

MiP (13798) - Sřnderborg, DENMARK - SEP 10, 2008
Bottle, 8.0%. Slightly rough hop aroma. Clear dark golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is a little sweet, some pepper. Hint of caramel in the finish, not much aftertaste. If you like European strong lager, this is OK.
