50 cl can Mulmur, ON, Canada. Pale yellow, sweet aroma, thick head. Too sweet and thick, but drinkable.

Wonderful pour filled with solid head and a foggy yellow-orange body. What would go for average in the appearance department in France suddenly becomes spectacular in North America - fascinating. Aroma is plenty of hops and some coriander trying to hide a malty brew. Flavour is hops and more hops with some grain hints on the back end. Dry finish. Not a very good French beer but very refreshing after so many bland North American beers. Try harder, brewers!

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2010 Canette 500 ml.

Can pours a very pale gold with white head, gives off aromas sharp yeast hops fish guts and wet dog. I’m tasting the promised gamey wet animal fur, some lemony hops, plus some apple and hay and honey. This is pretty awful, sick really.

Slight hazy golden yellow with a white puffy head. Grassy grain aroma, slight dry must smell as well. Grainy grass flavour with a weak body.

500mL can from the LCBO. Pours a super pale yellow with a large frothy white head. The aroma is right off the bat semi-sour pale malts with a touch of tiny hops, and minor macro-ness but it’s actually not awful. Flavour somehow gets better as it warms. Starts out cold like a crappy macro lager (more in the North American macro style), but as it warmed I picked up decent notes of Pils malts and not much in the way of off flavours or anything that would suggest garbage ingredients. Minor hop presence in the aftertaste. This is far better than what I was expecting.

500mL Can from the LCBO. 5%. Clear golden pour with a bubbly white head that disappears quickly. Medium carbonation. Aroma is grassy, hint of sweetness. Crisp clean mouthfeel, moderately dry finish with a hoppy hint that is quite pleasant.

Diogène (1066) - Mirabel, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 19, 2011
500ml can. Clear golden with a thick white foamy head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma is pale malt, minimal herbal hops, a touch of metal and vegetables. Flavor is sweet (too sweet for my liking of the style) with cereals, corn and a touch of herbal hops and minimal bitterness. Thin to medium body with a slightly sticky mouthfeel.

I tried this beer on February 22, 2011 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a hazy translucent gold colour with a thin white foamy head. The aroma is very grainy with the smell of horse feed. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is very grainy with a slight sourness and a bitter finish.

This lager??? poured a cloudy light yellow colour with a bright white, fizzy head. To the nose there are scents of corn, light malt, even lighter citrus and grass. First sip was very watery with flavours of corn, malt and hay. Finish is distantly hoppy with the corn flavour prodominant.
