50 cl can from monoprix. Cool all black can with black top and tab. Doesn’t really smell like much more than fake bourbon mixed with Kanterbrau. But at least it’s faint. Maroon color. Tastes sweet and watery, with the tiniest hint of coffee. Mainly it tastes like sugar water iced tea coffee or something. Maybe for southern yuppies.

Bottle @ home. Nice dark red to red-brown color, medium to full sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, some sweetness, a bit metallic, some hint of caramel and brown sugar. Average body and carbonation. Meh, don’t really like it.

Très décevant. Malgré le nom qui suggère une stout, la bière n’est que brune foncée. On ne goûte pas (ou trop peu) de malt torrefié tel que le chocolate. Beaucoup trop sucré et généralement dans caractère.

Very sweet black beer, no evidence of any roast grains. Mouthfeel is light/watery, not much lingering aftertaste. Sugar taste too.

Can - dark red with very small head around rim - thin pop looking. Faint aroma with low carbonation. Liquorice tasting with faint chocolate - very sweet. Ting on tongue and in mouth. Wouldn’t choose again.

Can. Clear brown color, fast fading brown head. Very sweet smell, toffee and maybe chocolate. Taste is also very sweet, nothing else, not even bitter. Aftertaste is somewhat sweet chocolate. Mouthfeel is thin, with a very thin carbonation.

I bought a can of this in Sarnen along with 4 other types of beer, which I’ll review later. The can is black with a black top instead of aluminium coloured, so looks more like an energy drink. The first thing that hit me was the sweetness, like sugar water: sweet and insipid. it has weak flavour but nothing to write home or here about. They call it a stout, but it’s no stout in my mind or on my tongue. Unlike some of Nogne’s beers, which are strong and sweet, this beer isn’t worth waking up a 3am because your pancreas is shitting itself. This beer is like hollywood, it’s all in the packaging, shallow and no substance. I think I’ll move on and forget this beer, in fact I’m starting to forget it as I’m writing this..... good!
