330 ml bottle in Germany. At first I thought oh shit a pale lager from France. But then I tried it. A clear yellow color with medium head. Smell is malty and different floral-fruit aroma. The taste is very nice reminds me of corriander. Palate is very nice for a Pale Lager. A very nice surprise awaits you with this one. More Pale Lagers should note this, Budweiser are you hearing this?

Bottle courtesy of Bierkrug, thank you sir! Golden color, white head. Aroma of sour lemondrops and hay. Taste is very smooth, light malts, medium body. Hops are very subtle. Resembles a saison more than a lager in character.

Bottle courtesy of Bierkrug - thank you much! What a great colored beer! Very rich gold! Flavor is somehow sweet and ’sharp’ at the same time. Nice beer!

0.25l bottle from Achan Illkirch-Graffenstaden. Clear golden yellow with a mid-sized white head and a nice bouquet of hops. Medium-bodied, solid malty background with a good amount of aromatic hops, which the package describes as being Alsatian Strisselspalt. Well-balanced, a good one.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2010 Can 25cl. A clear yellow beer with medium head. Smell is malty and a bit fruity-acid. Aroma is malty, relatively sweet, oily, some caramel notes. This lager has a not bad body, over the average, with a low fruity finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, thanks Bierkrug. Amber, fine carbonation, low offwhite cream. Crisp metallic hops on a strawlike malt base aroma. Chewy body, good malt base, nice bitterhop wallop to counterbalance - a shame about the metallic note. Still, a pleaasant surprise after the stream of letdowsn I encountered when I visited Alsace last.

Mommsen-Eck (Haus der 100 Biere) has been a watering hole of mine since before the Berlin Wall came down back in 1989: every trip back to the city sees me re-visit the place for food and beers. BA however has changed what I drink in here, I’m always looking for something on the menu I’ve not had before instead of having something I know, hence the 0.330 ml bottle of Licorne Elsass was ordered during one of my evenings in here during Jan 2012.
Poured a slightly hazy pale blond colour; tight white head that gave some impressive lacing for a Lager.
Mini floral hop aroma; gets my regular score of 3 for an almost odourless Lager/Pilsner/Helles.
The taste was refreshing and this blend of hops and malts gave it a better character than most French Lagers I’ve had over the years, this had an actual taste. Mild rather than tangy or sharp, malts lead initially in the flavours, the hops coming to give the beer a gentle bitterness towards the end of each sip.

Bouteille (Merci, Mr. Le Kwak- d’Aque!) Golden, stable lacy white head; clean sweetish-grainy nose with a subtle bitter touch; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; pale-malty and bitter-hoppy finish. Fresh and pleasant, very good by french Lager-standards.....

Bottle 25cl. Pours a golden coloured clear filtered brew with nice stable white head. Floral hoppy nose, malty body, decent bitter finish. Typical French Lager taste, although surprisingly fresh and balanced. Quite good for a french beer.
