Do you always dive right into the deep end or do you wade in slowly? Do you rush in or do you stop to think about it before you decide? Well sometimes it’s nice to take your time. There’s no need to rush, take it slow, ease in and get it right. And that’s exactly what we did with our Gateway Kolsch; we took the time to get it right. Paying homage to the lagered ales of Koln Germany, this Kolsch style ale is aged a little longer, letting all the flavours mellow, making it one easy beer to drink. Brilliant yellow and clear as a summer’s day, this golden ale is for all of you out there who like to sit back relax and take the time to get it right.

On draft at The Pour House in Toronto. Unfiltered yellow body, thin white head that is quick to disappear. Aromas and tastes both feature hay, grains, cereals, breads and some caramel malts. A decent Kolsch, but not really up my alley.

Can. Crisp pilsner malt, light citrus and grass in the nose. Crisp, lemony, herbal. Clean malt comes to a dry finish. Highly drinkable but not so interesting.

Very pale golden color. Very good German continental malt and noble hops. The body is a bit weak, hops are very low. Meh

It has a golden colour with average white head that sticks around. Its very crisp on the tongue, and leaves tingling sensation on it. Texture has just bit of oily hint to it and medium thickness.

Medium grainy aroma. Pours nice and sparkling with large head, clear. Flavour is to style with some slight sweetness at the front and lots of grain in the finish. Lively carbonation, refreshing!

I wonder if the “Gateway” in the name is the gateway to introduce people into craft beers. Sampled on draft this beer poured a clear light golden yellow with a puffy white head. The nose was very mild with hints of straw and citrus. Taste too was very mild. There was a pleasant crisp pilsner like quality, a little sweetness, a hint of noble hops and a crisp finish. The bitterness was very low, the body was light and the carbonation was medium high. This is a simple, very quaffable easy drinking summer beer.

On tap @ Buster Rhino's Oshawa. Pours a dull straw yellow with a small white head. Aromas are honey, florals, and some roasty grain. Tastes are mildly sweet honey, biscuit, and some grains. Light body, solid carbonation, short finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Can. Pours clear yellow straw colour, massive fluffy white head, fare amount of lace. Nose is typical cearel, corn, tastes sweet, and a little fruity. I was actually expecting it to taste worse than it does. Not my typical, but not bad.

Can from brewery. Clear golden yellow with thin white head. Not much of an aroma, faint lemon and straw. Very mellow flavour, makes it very quaffable. Thin, flavours of straw and lemon, lingering citrus flavour. Not bad, but not very memorable.

2015/09/02 - Pours a clear gold colour with a thin white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is sweet corn, hay, cereal, mild floral hops and a hint of apple. Taste is mildly sweet and slightly bitter with flavours of corn, cereal, cracker and mild floral tones. Mouthfeel is light to medium and slick with medium, slightly biting carbonation and a mildly sweet, dry finish. It's drinkable, but nothing spectacular. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
