2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 gilvanblight (678) - Windsor, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 9, 2013
Orangey pour with lots and lots of foamy head. Strong grapefruit scent. Lots of peppery clover with that grapefruit. Anyone following along knows I’m not an IPA fan and well this is pretty much a textbook IPA
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Quasicrystal (4) - - DEC 17, 2012 does not count
On cask at Morgan's on Danforth. Didn't get all the nose I've been hearing about, but everything's there. In the mouth - wow! Big bitter piney rind-y hops. More caramel in the aged Gouda sense than expected. Bitterness hangs on for a loooong time. Not certain of ABV but the totality of the experience suggests something on the higher side - in a good way. Nice!

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jjarovi (44) - markham, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 7, 2012
Best aroma on an IPA in quite some time. On tap at the Indie Alehouse guest tap. Opposite end of the IPA spectrum from the citriusy IPAs I usually end up with, great aroma of dense pine and lemon, only fault in the lighter body than expected. Not quote a session IPA but a very good beer.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Gorbalev (2823) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 1, 2012
On tap, Imbibe, Kitchener. Yellow, medium creamy white head. Strong pine aroma - huge actually, appreciated! Taste is very dry and very bitter - as advertised! medium body holds it together well but this one is all dry piney hops - huge from start to very long bitter finish. Maybe a bit one dimensional, but it is a dimension I like! Well done folks, and thanks to Imbibe for having this on tap in KW.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 GregClow (2735) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 30, 2012
Draught at Rhino. Slightly hazy orange-gold with a thick and creamy white head. Aroma and flavour both have tons of citrus, mango, pine and grass, with enough sweet malt to support but not get in the way of the luscious hop explosion. A bit one-dimensional, perhaps, but hell, it smells and tastes so good that I’m not gonna complain.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 kevinsenn (550) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 4, 2012
On tap at Wvrst. Amber and cloudy. Citrus and tropical fruit aroma. Well balanced taste which finishes very hoppy and bitter. Another solid Ontario IPA comes to the market!
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 piscator34 (1798) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - APR 30, 2012
Draft sample at WVRST. Murky pale orange in colour with medium carbonation. Pungent white grapefruit, black pepper, pine and candied orange peel aroma. Flavours are of pale malt, grapefruit, and autumn leaves. Solid bitterness. One of the better Ontario IPAs that I’ve had. Great hop and bitterness levels.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Lubiere (8239) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - APR 29, 2012
A murky amber IPA with a thick big bubbled off white head. In aroma, a strange piney hops with musky meaty notes, light sulphur. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with loads of floral hops, menthol, grassy, in your face. Cask at Ontario Cask IPA Challenge, April 21, 2012.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 pootzboy (1451) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - APR 17, 2012
On tap: puts a hazey orangey-amber ale in the glass, decent cap, great lacing on the glass as it goes down. Aroma is a citrus heads dream - lots of grapefruit, some mango, some resinous hopping over sweet malt tones. Medium to med-heacy bodied this has substantial mouth feel. Flavout seems malt accented at first then the citrus, fruits and resinous bittering flood the palate. Long drying finish with a citrus kiss at the end. Not the best IPA I’ve ever had but very very good - particularly for a new brew op. Bravo dudes, you scored with this one.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 HogTownHarry (5632) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - APR 17, 2012
April 3, 2012 - on cask at Burger Bar. I have a rating for this in my backlog, but this is a more representative experience with this beer, I suspect. Almost murky amber-orange pour with a smallish off-white frothy head (3+). Terrific aroma - tons of citrus, light and not too sweet fruit malt backing, definitely some alcohol in there. Taste follows, but much maltier than I expected, and a lot of black tea, weirdly - just moderate alcohol; a bit twiggy. Fairly thick-bodied, solid carbonation for cask, a medium-long grapefruit pith dry palate-coating finish ... solid beer, room for improvement, but already much better than the first batch or two, so well done. Sawdust City continue to impress out of the gate.
