COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You approach the solitary windswept pine as it sits stoically upon its tiny perch of Canadian Shield and you wonder to yourself, “Why does this beautiful tree stand alone?” Then as you step closer, in awe of its majestic splendour, a branch blows down and slaps you right across your face. Sawdust City’s Lone Pine IPA is aggressively hopped and bursting with flavours of pine and citrus, loaded with mounds of hops and balanced with a blend of 4 different malts. Like that truculent tree, each glass is like a pine bow across your face.

Can kindly donated by Karol. One of the few beers which hold true to the commercial description. Loads of piney resiny zesty orangey hops flavours, high bitterness, long dry hoppy finish. Carefully balanced by clean crystal caramel maltiness. Easily drinkable. Excellent.

Poured from a tall can. Cloudy orange. Little head. Little lacing. Sweet aroma for an iPa. Grassy, weak tast.

Aroma of pineapple, resin, caramel and hops. Pours a hazy caramel color with a small white well laced head. Taste of caramel, malt and resin with a hint of pineapple. Dry chalky feel with a mildly bitter finish.

473 can from the LCBO.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber colour with a crazy amount of white head with a very very very long retention.

Aroma: Pine and hops.

Flavours: Pine, tar, hops, some grapefruit.

Mouthfeel: Average viscosity and carbonation.

Overall: This was quite a nice IPA and was strong on the pine and hops in both the aroma and flavour. The head was ridiculous and it took five minutes to pour as I had to wait for it to receed before I could finish pouring.

473 mL can. One of the best IPAs in Ontario. Lots of pine in nose and mouth, of course, but it is accentuated and enhanced with come sweet citrus as well. Perfect bitterness, and solid body.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2015 Big pillowy, persistent, white head. High carbonation. Fairly clear, gold. Piney, resin aroma. Flavour of pine, resin, slight onion, slight grapefruit pith. Light caramel. Dryness accentuates the firm, but pleasant bitterness.

(Rating #6208)
