COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You approach the solitary windswept pine as it sits stoically upon its tiny perch of Canadian Shield and you wonder to yourself, “Why does this beautiful tree stand alone?” Then as you step closer, in awe of its majestic splendour, a branch blows down and slaps you right across your face. Sawdust City’s Lone Pine IPA is aggressively hopped and bursting with flavours of pine and citrus, loaded with mounds of hops and balanced with a blend of 4 different malts. Like that truculent tree, each glass is like a pine bow across your face.

On tap, Imbibe, Kitchener. Yellow, medium creamy white head. Strong pine aroma - huge actually, appreciated! Taste is very dry and very bitter - as advertised! medium body holds it together well but this one is all dry piney hops - huge from start to very long bitter finish. Maybe a bit one dimensional, but it is a dimension I like! Well done folks, and thanks to Imbibe for having this on tap in KW.

473 can from the LCBO.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy amber colour with a crazy amount of white head with a very very very long retention.

Aroma: Pine and hops.

Flavours: Pine, tar, hops, some grapefruit.

Mouthfeel: Average viscosity and carbonation.

Overall: This was quite a nice IPA and was strong on the pine and hops in both the aroma and flavour. The head was ridiculous and it took five minutes to pour as I had to wait for it to receed before I could finish pouring.

473 mL can. One of the best IPAs in Ontario. Lots of pine in nose and mouth, of course, but it is accentuated and enhanced with come sweet citrus as well. Perfect bitterness, and solid body.

Big pillowy, persistent, white head. High carbonation. Fairly clear, gold. Piney, resin aroma. Flavour of pine, resin, slight onion, slight grapefruit pith. Light caramel. Dryness accentuates the firm, but pleasant bitterness.

(Rating #6208)

473ml can from LCBO. Pours a hazy orange with some sediment. Very thin and foamy head, almost light and airy. Nose is citrus, pine, and fresh hops. Maybe some tropical fruit. Tastes of pine, grapefruit, and some sweeter malts. Bitterness hits you in the back of the tongue. Resinous, yet light. Hops are not quite balanced by the malts, but typical for the West Coast IPA style. A stellar brew. For sure on my top 10 IPA list. Rivals some of the IPAs from my local brewers. Would love an imperial version. Sawdust City has been turning out some amazing brews. Perhaps a summer trip to Gravenhurst is in the cards... Very well done.

From LCBO and drank at Ian's house in Toronto. Cloudy golden-caramel with thin watery fizzy head. Smells of juicy fruity floral hop, tangerine, Tastes of orange juice, very bitter hop, light pepper. Body is bitter and a little fizzy. Highly bitter, somewhat unbalanced. Can see how they were going for a West Coast IPA style with this.
