3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A murky amber IPA with a thick big bubbled off white head. In aroma, a strange piney hops with musky meaty notes, light sulphur. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with loads of floral hops, menthol, grassy, in your face. Cask at Ontario Cask IPA Challenge, April 21, 2012.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap release party at the Burger Bar, regular tap version. Orange citrus aroma but also a bit funky smell in there. Carbonation right there. Served way too cold. Waited till warmed. A bit astringent. Simcoe, Centennial, and Cascade. Would like more malt backbone, the IBU comes right at you. hop juice, making drinkability somewhat difficult. Good head retention, 3/8"

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2012 Cask at Volo. Hazy hold pour. The nose is very hoppy and citrusy with a lot of bright dry hop dankness. Light body but intensely hoppy with just a bit of malt backing it up. Light but very tasty.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 25, 2012 2012-04-21. Lightly hazy golden orange amber body with a small frothy off-white head. 3+ Fruity aroma, sort of citrusy with leafy overtones that grow as you go. 6+ Flavour is similar, mild muddled fruit and citrus, leafy green hops are more dominant in the flavour than in the aroma. 6+ Average to light bodied palate is decent for a cask. Funny aftertaste, strong leafy hops and something I can’t place. 7/3/6/3/13 Blind Tasting on Cask at Volo IPA Challenge
2012-12-22. Crisp dark amber body, nice foamy beige head and nice lace on the glass. 3+ Pleasant modest bitterness throughout, very crisp, modest resin character, very light citrus, mild biscuity toasty malt accents, experientially (Is that really what I wrote?) reminds me of Crazy Canuck, but more so. 7+ First sniff of toasty malt, quickly gives way to modest resin and muted citrusy hops. Surprisingly malt forward overall, but with a nice amount of hoppy bitterness. Average plus bodied palate. 7+ Pretty solid, quite drinkable but less aggressively hopped than I typically look for. Tap at Burger Bar 7/4/7/3/14

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
650mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a cloudy dark orange with a large white head. Aroma brings out loads of piney hops, a little citrus zest, and some crisp crackery malt - loads of pine though. Flavour brings out a huge wallop of intensely bitter piney hops - oh man is this piney and hoppy. Super dry, fairly astringent, but super drinkable. Excellent IPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUL 7, 2013 April 3, 2012 - on cask at Burger Bar. I have a rating for this in my backlog, but this is a more representative experience with this beer, I suspect. Almost murky amber-orange pour with a smallish off-white frothy head (3+). Terrific aroma - tons of citrus, light and not too sweet fruit malt backing, definitely some alcohol in there. Taste follows, but much maltier than I expected, and a lot of black tea, weirdly - just moderate alcohol; a bit twiggy. Fairly thick-bodied, solid carbonation for cask, a medium-long grapefruit pith dry palate-coating finish ... solid beer, room for improvement, but already much better than the first batch or two, so well done. Sawdust City continue to impress out of the gate.
Original rating = 3.7
Updated for 2013 - this beer just gets better all the time - I have to bump to 3.9.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught at Burger Bar. Dec. 21, 2011. Pours a slightly hazy orange-copper with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of lightly toasted malt and light citrusy hops. Flavour is malty, with the hops showing up mostly in the finish. Reminds me a little of Great Lakes’ Canuck Pale Ale (with thanks to jerc) but with less hops in the flavour, again, they are found mainly in the finish. Average bodied. Pretty good, easy to drink, though a little tamer then I prefer.

Bottle: Poured an orangey color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of citrus hops with light earthy notes. Taste is also dominated by citrus hops with medium sweet malt notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well brewed thought missing a little something to differentiate from the pack.
