COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big and bold Imperial Stout. Brewed with lots of roasted and chocolate malts, with a touch of special sugar added in to give that little something extra. Very, very black and very strong. Just the thing to curl up with while the snow flies!

Designed to withstand the grueling voyage from Earth to Uranus, Long Dark Voyage is a stout of the highest order. Ass-puckeringly bitter and dry as a bone, thus dark chocolate treat is quite dangerous and will sneak up on you from behind if you don’t keep your wits about you. You’ve been warned!

Last year’s offering was a mere 8.5%, but Sam boosted the ABV up a notch for 2015.

650ml bottle. Black in colour with a thin but long lasting tan head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, dark fruits, light liquorice. The flavour has lots of chocolate, roasted malts, some vanilla, liquorice, moderate sweetness. Roasty mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long and roasty, sweet. A really good imperial stout, high drinkability. Nice balance, alcohol hidden well.

can 9.5%. Poured near black with a tan head. Very sweet roasted malt aroma. Full body, tight carbonation, slick oily mouthfeel with a lingering dry finish. Robust roasty flavour, notes of coffee, treacle, smokey. A bit sour with lots of herbal hops lends to quite a bitter ending.

Canette 473ml. Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka foncée riche, crémeuse et persistante laissant une dentelle baveuse. Arôme de malt torréfié, café, côté fruité, grains de café, cendré. Goût de malt torréfié, café noir, chocolat, alcool, bonne amertume, grains rôtis. Carbonatation moyenne-faible, corps dense, soyeuse

can. pours clear very dark brown if not oily black with a reviving and creamy beige cap, nice lacing. brown and dark chcocolate maltiness, hint of smoke, minty citrus and resin/pine; burnt demerara, cocoa liquor, very spicy - cumin and carvi; soy sauce - salt. moderate carboantion, medium to full body - oily; smooth yet assertive piney finish. tons of salty bitter and smooth milk chocolate. i’m guessing this year’s version is quite different judging by previous ratings. particularly solid big hoppy stout.

big brown head and jet black beer. smells of roastedness booze choochoalte and bitterness. Starts of wet with a chocolate taste a little roastedness earthyness and maybe butterscotch some. Also cherry like and a little boozy. Later becomes dry and bone shaking bitter. It has it’s great moments and its caught ya off gaurd moments. Good beer. Cheer’s.
