3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 pootzboy (1484) - Hawgville, Ontario, - JUN 12, 2012On tap @ Gig’s - taps a lightly hazed copper-orange with a puffy lasting off white cap. Moderate carbonation. Aroma is robust with Munich red malts - toasty and noble hopping, some light fruitiness. Medium bodied creamy mouth feel, smooth malt accented character. Flavor is fairly well balanced between toasty-bready malts and herbal woody hops - long dry bittersweet nutty malty finish with a hop bite. If I closed my eyes I’d think I was drinking a fresh Dusseldorf Alt. I enjoy this lagered amber ale and it is probably the best Albier we have had in this market since the Duckstein supply dried up.

The roasted nuttiness of this beer is pretty appealing, though the aroma is a bit off. A little acidic. A good session as its pretty drinkable. Sweet with a medium body.

Session Sunday at Bar Hop. $5 pints of select brews. Thist altbier by Sawdust City is balanced and flavourful, and sessionable.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 fiulijn (12360) - Malmö, DENMARK - NOV 18, 2012
Draught at Barhop, Toronto Amber color with creamy head. Vulgar aroma, some bread, caramel and light puke. Dry caramel flavor, with a dusty edge; ordinary bitterness. Not the right malt profile to be an Alt. Quite boring.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 JesseM (1124) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 7, 2012
On tap at Imbibe. Clearish brown, small tan head. Aroma is fairly simple, caramalt, hint of maple I guess, really unremarkable. Flavour is better, nice malt backbone, sweeter, mild dryness in finish, but for something called ’woody’ one might expect some more. Not bad but I wouldn’t go out of my way for this again.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jimmay (807) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 27, 2012
Pours reddish brown in colour, thin tin head, lots if lace. Nice malt aroma and flavour.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 solidfunk (1919) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 13, 2012
Smells like malt, has a very typical altbier aftertaste with a lot of bitter barley. Really good lacing. Bitterness has good presence, a kind of grainy bitterness. Decent. On tap at WVRST.
