April 8, 2013 - on draught at Bar Hop. Deep but clear brown-black pour, smallish beige/tan creamy head. Solid roasty aroma - coffee beans, mocha, some herbal bitterness, a little earthy and definitely raw cinnamon. Taste - mostly cinnamon, a little mocha coffee in the background, modest bit of heat to it, but that builds. Slightly thick, solidly carbonated, astringent and quite earthy/peppery in the linger, with a cocoa aftertaste. Very nice stuff, quite a good winter brew.

2013-05-07. Black body nice tan head. 3+ Pleasant aroma, nice cinnamon and dark malt. 7+ Flavour is similar, nice dark malt, modest cinnamon [is that cayenne peppers? I totally got cinnamon... huh] throughout. Average plus bodied palate, modest carbonation. Decent. On cask at SC Tap Takeover, C’est What, Toronto

Dark black pour with a lighter than expected head. Rich chocolate scent. Dark chocolate not milk. Very appealing. Sweet at first but that is quickly taken over by the cinnamon. The spice doesn’t hit until well after you are done. Very late in the aftertaste. At first I was thinking. The brewer said this has a bite, I don’t taste any... Oh there it is. Enjoying this more than I expected to.

C’est What? (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

Part of the featured brews at the Sawdust City Tap takeover. The beer pours a solid dark brown with a creamy brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, nuts, and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Flavour is a mixture of coffee and hot pepper. While the pepper is not noticeable in the aroma, you can certainly taste it.

My favourite of the selection at C’est What tap takeover. The cayenne pepper and some roast draws one in. Starts with the cayenne, finishes with coffee. Dark brown. No head. Very good drinkability.Smooth mouthfeel.

On tap at The Only Cafe. Pours a very dark brown with large, creamy light tan head and solid lacing. Aroma is surprisingly mild given the flavour with coffee and light pepper. Flavour is huge bitter coffee and strong, hot pepper that almost drowns anything else out. Pepper heat in finish.

Deep brown-black pour. The aroma is lightly fruity. Blackberry and sweet molasses with a bit of plum as well. A touch of spicy bitterness and some lingering pepper. Nice roastiness and even a touch of heat. Chili kind of amps up as it warms. Interesting brew. It works.

Heavy initial smell of espresso. Continues through with beer but adds some spice Chile halfway through drink and continues on with spiciness. No head it lacing. Good mix of spice and coffee, but follow through is light. Tap at volos.

On tap at bar hop. Inky dark brown pour, quick tan head. Aroma of fresh ground coffee, cocoa, cayenne, orange peel. Smooth texture. Really spicy. I like spicy. It overpowers the other flavors a bit but still some dark chocolate sweetness to counter. Very enjoyable.

A deep dark brown stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, grassy roasted coffee with cinnamon and green pepper. In mouth, a nice mix of chocolate, mint, cinnamon, and hot peppers, grassy qualities, ginger snaps, interesting.
