My favourite of the selection at C’est What tap takeover. The cayenne pepper and some roast draws one in. Starts with the cayenne, finishes with coffee. Dark brown. No head. Very good drinkability.Smooth mouthfeel.

Cask. (Rating #6012)

473 mL can. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Nose is smoky cayenne spice, coffee, roasty malts and a touch of vanilla. Mild malty sweetness with a deep, roasty bitter finish and great peppery spice; very savory. Moderate body with average carbonation. Enjoyable and warming.

Aroma is roast and coffee, black pour with brown head. Medium to full bodied, spicy flavour is evident, dry roasted finish, fairly interesting.

Black as coal. Solid backbone. Peppery burn on the lips. Holy stout batman. Awesome that it's now in cans. One of the greatest stouts I have ever drank.

Can from LCBO. Creamy roasty coffee aroma. Taste of chocolate and coffee on the first sip. Following sips have much more spice (cinnamon), and a slight burn in the back of the throat. Enjoyable seasonal stout.

can. pours a dark black colour. Aroma is as advertised with coffee, coffee grinds, burnt toast. Medium bodied brew that has more toffee in the flavour than I thought it would but those coffee notes are there. decent enough medium bodied brew.

473 mL can. Deep Brown close to black pour, medium to tall semi creamy / foamy tan head. Aroma is dominated by coffee. Taste is roast malt, coffee, then a spicy cayenne pepper finish.

Tap at the brewery tap room. Dark brown, almost black, but a slight ruby hue, with a medium mocha heat. Good roast aroma, charred malts, solid dark coffee. No heat, of cayenne found at all. Cocoa in the finish, ample amounts of coffee, with some light soy, again, no pepper at all.

473 mL can. Stout brown, with a thin, light brown head. Definitely black coffee in the nose. Smells neither particularly sweet nor bitter. The flavour is milder than expected, at first. then the cayenne hits. Wow. Not subtle. Weird how it sneaks up on you. It’s actually a little thin up front.

I am really enjoying this. Ours almost black with a big whiff of coffee. I am not getting the vanilla or cinnamon but the cayenne is there in big enough amounts that it can’t be ignored. I am digging the spicy beer and it is something I must find more examples of.
