Pours an opaque black with a frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, sweet coffee, latte and bitter cocoa. Taste is roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, sweet coffee latte and a slick velvety mouthfeel. Excellent oatmeal stout!

473 ml can from the brewery via Steve (thanks!), served cold in a tulip glass.

App.: Deep brown-black with a fairly tight mocha head. Aroma: Grape-like fruitiness, roasted barley, a bit of coffee/chocolate, lightly smoky/phenolic, more coffee as it warms. Palate: Medium-ish body, creamy carbonation. Flav.: Roasted barley, lighter grape-like fruitiness, black strap molasses, a little coffee, no chocolate here, dark and stern; dry with decent bitterness and a dark-roasted, stern finish.

A bit different from other stouts due to the lack of sweeter notes.

On tap at brewery. Potent mocha aroma with faint smoke and plenty of vanilla. Almost opaque dark brown under a white patch and collar. Sweet black coffee flavour with a hops and dark malt bitterness. Medium light body, moderate carbonation, fairly crisp.

On tap. Basically black pour, medium tan head that leaves a thin cap. Mostly roast malt, but also coffee, chocolate. Real good stout.

Can from the brewery. Pitch black with a small dark brown head that leaves tight lace. Nose is chocolate and coffee with lots of roasted nuts. Taste has a light sweet cola start and leading to a medium light bitter coffee and chocolate middle with a quite dry finish. Mouth is medium and creamy with soft carbonation. This works well.

Can. Very dark almost-black body with a thick and creamy tan head. Warm and roasty aroma with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, a bit of burnt toffee. Flavours of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, toasted hazelnut, hint of dark plum. Medium-full body, bit creamy on the palate. A very solid stout.

Pitch black pour with a brown head that foams up well and leave a bit of lace on the glass. Fairly expressive aroma with hints of espresso grounds, light chocolate and toast. On the palate it is medium bodies, sports a decent flavour length and finishes a tad fast with little toasty bite. OK.

Jan. 30, 2015. In January’s Brew Box. Can. Very dark with off-white head that did not linger. Dark chocolate and faint coffee aromas. Thinner than expected, but still nice. Very smooth.
