Pitch black pour with a brown head that foams up well and leave a bit of lace on the glass. Fairly expressive aroma with hints of espresso grounds, light chocolate and toast. On the palate it is medium bodies, sports a decent flavour length and finishes a tad fast with little toasty bite. OK.

Jan. 30, 2015. In January’s Brew Box. Can. Very dark with off-white head that did not linger. Dark chocolate and faint coffee aromas. Thinner than expected, but still nice. Very smooth.

Flight at Sawdust City. Pours a dark brown/black with a thin, off white head that leaves nice rings of dark lacing. Aroma has dark toasted malts, hints of dark chocolate, and coffee. Taste is bitter but balanced. Mild dark chocolate and coffee with a bit of hop presence to round it out. Medium body and mouth feel. A bit creamy in the mouth but pretty clean and easy drinking. Overall tasty. A good, easy drinking stout.

Can from brewery. Black cola colour, off white head. Smells like roasted malt, chocolate, subtle licorice. Taste is cocoa and coffee, roasted malt. Nice stout.

Unlabelled tall can from brewery pours freshly paved two lane blacktop dark with a cappuccino style one finger cap. Flavour is fresh dark malts, dark roast coffee & a sliver of chocolate. Easy drinking session stout. Prefer the Uranus Imp stout they do, but this is a fine sipper on a early autumn Saturday afternoon & I do think I will pour a second one shortly.

473 mL can. Pours opaque black with a head of khaki foam. Coffee, dark stone fruit, cocoa powder and grainy malt aromas. Gentle malt sweetness with a surprisingly smooth roasty bitterness. Little to no hop presence. Creamy full mouthfeel and body with a long coating finish. Palate coating and sticks to your ribs. Delicious.

On tap at the Ottawa Beer fest. Oatmeal stout 5.5% it has a lovely toasted oat and soft chocolate aroma on a pit black pour with a beige head. Med-full bodied with quite a smooth mouthfeel. The taste is chocolate, roasty, dark pitted fruits, cocoa powder and has a sweet fruity finish.

Easy drinking stout with obvious coffee and chocolate flavours. I often find stouts better in fall and winter but this drinks well in summer too.
