COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Aged for two months in Gamay barrels from Malivoire Winery and Chardonnay barrels from Southbrook Estates, our hoppy Belgian Golden has turned into a whole new animal! All that barrel sittin’ got done got the Princess all tarted up and she’s ready to hit the town! With subtle hints of oak and a cheek puckering tartness this 9% Golden Ale is sure to please once again.

Tap at Bar Volo. The blackboard says 10%. Pours translucent bright golden with scattered and smallish off-white head. The aroma... woooooohh, incredible, sweeet candied fruits, grapey sour of the Chardonnay, some Turkish-made watermelon-flavoured bubblegum I remember from my late-Soviet childhood. And at points even minty herbal... Tastes almost as good but the bitterness is a bit too much. The minty herbal notes transfer from the aroma to flavour, plus the sourish grapes. Kinda watery on the palate it seems, with mellow carbonation and dry funky-ish finish. The aroma really blew my mind but the rest doesn’t live up to that even though it’s all round a great BA brew. Perhaps one of the best Chardonnay-barreled brews I’ve had. A notch up from the original version, which I loved as well.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2016 2015 vintage. $15 bottle (2000 bottle run). Decants a beautiful hazed topaz with a thick mushy cap. Busy bouquet: imperial saison goodness, white grapes & other fruit. Fantastic tasting beer. Swirls of white wine, apricot, orchard fruit & some really nice funk. The barrel plays a leading role here. Highly drinkable, with a crisp finish, lots of depth & a 10% abv that lurks in the shadows. High level brewing.

Tap at barhop. Pours a hazy gold with a white head. Lightly sour, lemony floral aroma. Medium body, medium carbonation. Lots of white wine, grass, lemon, apple, melon, pear candy, hint of pepper and clove... Lightly sour, maybe slightly too winey, but it's tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

That white wine aroma and taste really sticks out. Very unusual but nice. Prefer the regular girl pants but still good.

Can in Brew Box. Pale yellow with big fluffy head. Aromas of sour apple and grape and peaches. Tart apple and pear flavours, hint of hoppiness. Quite nice.

Can from the brewery. Murky light orange with a generous white head that lingers. Dominant white wine and wood on the nose with a generous helping of green fruit and citrus and a supporting light toffee along with a yeasty spiciness. Light sweet fruit supports the medium tartness of grape and a bit of cherry. Light woodiness is evident in the finish. Medium slick mouth with fine carbonation and lingering tart finish. Princess works much better with this ageing.

473ml can from the brewery. Pours a hazy yellow with a big off white head. Aroma is very vinous, lots of earthy barrel and wood with some solid tropical fruity hops. A lovely tartness has been emparted by the barrel, almost like brett was added. The finish is bitter and sour with alot of vinous white grape woodiness.

Can - 473ml. Beautiful hazy golden body with a thin, fading, white foamy head. Fresh malty/hoppy aroma with fruity hints. Its sharp hoppy taste carries malty, yeasty, mango, and melon notes. Ends with a robust sour finish.

On tap at the Only Cafe. Pours a cloudy golden colour with smallish white head. Aroma is fruity, funky Belgian yeast with fruit and wheat. Flavour is also dominated by the fruity and funky yeast with sourish fruit, wheat and some spicy notes. Alcohol pretty subtle. Fine carbonation. Nice.

Enjoyed at the National Capital Craft Beer Week. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a frothy white head and some dirty lacing. Sour and vinegar nose with some light fruits. Smooth, and no alcohol burn. Wet mouthfeel and medium-bodied. Wow ! Very well-blended between a sour ale and a fruity Belgian one. Quite interesting and very easy to drink for such a strong brew.
