Commercial Description:
Sawyer’s Triple is based upon the traditional "Golden Triple" style of strong ale, hailing from Belgium, and weighs in at 7.6% alc/vol. The brew is deep golden in color with a distinctive spicy, sweet and hoppy nose. Effervescent carbonation leads to a modestly dry malt character with hoppy flavors and alcohol overtones. Sawyer’s Triple was formulated and brewed by Bill Sherwood.

Thanks to Springslicker for this rare treat. Poured a murky amber color with floating sediment and no head. The aroma was sweet, fruity, estery and yeasty. Nicely aged malt. Flavor is closely mathcing. Sweet and fruity malt. The finish is mildly sweet as well.

This beer is a rarity that I received in a trade so long ago and I have been waiting for the time when i could share it with people who would most enjoy and appreciate it. I have kept in in my fridge all that time and noting that some of the ratings were beginning to decline, I decided that it needed to be opened. The fact that JohnC offered to send me one shows what a generous and fine person he is. The fact that the first one arrived broken in a totally destroyed styro shipper, and that he was able and willing to send a replacement shows what a uniquely fine trader John is. And that Herbjones supplied the make-up bottle for John says it all about him as well. All of the credits for the ratings from this bottle go to those two guys. And I think everyone agreed that this bottle had held up well. Fleeting white head over a clear gold. Wonderfully sweet, fruity aroma with warm nuts and honey. Not overly sweet, yet not bitter either, this one is lead by a nice citric fruitiness in the flavor. Smooth and easy drinking. Avery nice triple.

A nice golden pour. Strong fruity esters and plenty of malt. A nice fruity flavor with a hint of clove. A beer with excellent carbonation and a smooth palate. A damn fine beer thanks Springslicker.

Dark gold coloring with light bubbly head. Subdued levels of the fruit flavors typical of this style but still present. Banana, citrus, and clove being the most noticable. Also present was a slight amount of acidity. Beer did seem to have a dry finish, but acidity was throwing me off.

Pulled out of that magic fridge at the Hampton after the Dark Lord release. I don’t know if my palate was fried or what, but I got very little out of this. Pleasant enough fruity aroma. Watery mouthfeel. I really had to search to find the flavors here. Very subtle fruit thing going on. I still can’t find the hops. I’m a fan of triples, just not this one :(

Pours a golden yellow color, small white head. A little bit of sediment floating around. Aroma of apples, pineapples and a little wheat. Flavor is bananas, cloves, coconut and apples. Thanks to BBB63 for this one.

Typical tripel with considerable spice notes. Peppery at times. Lots of alcohol kick that should have been better hidden behind malty sweetness, IMHO. Very little hops. I’m underwhelmed, but agree it’s well-crafted for the most part (as is everything Stone Brewing touches). To give them their due, at least Stone TRIED to brew a tripel.
