2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 htsprint1 (51) - Urbana, Illinois, USA - MAY 5, 2005
Pulled out of that magic fridge at the Hampton after the Dark Lord release. I don’t know if my palate was fried or what, but I got very little out of this. Pleasant enough fruity aroma. Watery mouthfeel. I really had to search to find the flavors here. Very subtle fruit thing going on. I still can’t find the hops. I’m a fan of triples, just not this one :(
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Mangino (1027) - Mississippi, USA - APR 29, 2005
Pours a golden yellow color, small white head. A little bit of sediment floating around. Aroma of apples, pineapples and a little wheat. Flavor is bananas, cloves, coconut and apples. Thanks to BBB63 for this one.

Typical tripel with considerable spice notes. Peppery at times. Lots of alcohol kick that should have been better hidden behind malty sweetness, IMHO. Very little hops. I’m underwhelmed, but agree it’s well-crafted for the most part (as is everything Stone Brewing touches). To give them their due, at least Stone TRIED to brew a tripel.

Draft at Belgian Beer Fest in Boston. Aroma is brown sugar, sweet, malty banana yeasts in there as well. Transparent orangeish color with a small off-white head. Sweet, yet malty banana yeasts with some nice hops. Not overly hopped, but well balanced. One of the better beers I had at this festival.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ClarkVV (3578) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 7, 2004
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2007 Draught at the Belgian Beer Fest. Pours a brilliant goldenrod color, deep and almost syrupy looking. Hints of bright orange and red peek through. Little to no head. Aroma of sweet yellow fruit esters (peaches, oranges, nectarines, apricots) with a lightly sweet yeast presence and a light note of vanilla or cream. Flavor is very sweet and candi flavored, with canned syrupy peaches appeal, low alcohol apparency and plenty of Belgian yeast activity. It’s very well done, and though I’m not a fan of the sweeter style of trippels (I like the perfumy, bitter, dry yeasty ones) this one was very good, very drinkable and did not thin out or shows problems from its age (2-3 years old now)

Amber coloured. Yeasty and fruity aroma. Very yeasty and sweet flavour. A quite boring tripel.
