| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2009 In short: A smooth, sweet, flowery and fruity golden ale. Different and highly drinkable.
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed (probably fresh) soon after purchase. Tasting session with Montreal crew.
The look: Golden orange body topped by a very small off-white head
In long: Pleasant floral nose of scented garden flowers. Soft juicy body with a soft carbonation. Taste is a pleasant mix of honeyed malts, flower petals (orchids, etc.), tropical fruits and passion fruit juice. The flowery hopping brings no dryness and almost no bitterness so the honey sweetness sticks around in the finish and the beer does feel a little sweet. Quite different from the classic Belgian Abbey Triples, especially the mouthfeel that didn’t felt Belgium at all. But this is a very interesting refreshing golden ale of some kind. It just felt different. A surprising offering coming from Stone and one I’d like to see brewed regularly. Unfortunately they only seem to brew it on rare occasions. I don’t know what the occasion is but it doesn’t happen very often. Maybe they brew it to celebrate the win of a handicapped albinos at the special Olympic wheelchair 1000 meters hurdles. Maybe, I don’t know, something that doesn’t happen often. after4ever (2859), Brier, Washington, USA

Big green apple, toffee, and dust nose, joined by a bit of banana. Very much the classic tripel, other than the hefeweisen intruder. Crisp, sparkling body. Green apple, toffee, dust, and lots of banana on the mid-palate. The banana is a weird addition. Mild sweet finish. DougShoemaker (2856), Toronto, Canada

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2009 Big thanks to markwise for bringing this to the weekly tasting. This beer has eluded me going back to its initial release. Pours clear gold with thin white head. The aroma is perfumy, lemony then sweetness and various spice notes join the fun. I’m also getting notes of berries and faint cardboard with additional draws. The taste begins with a wave of sugar sweetness then mild lemon tart notes surface to go along with hints of apple, coriander, raisins and a touch of pepper. Very nice. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 18, 2004 RBSG 04 accompanied by probably the best quote of the night from jsquire, which i will not repeat. Pours a yellow/golden color witha small white head. Aroma is very banana fruity and spicy with hints of coriander. Taste has a nice wheaty quality to it, heavily carbonated which really amplified the coriander. Fizzy but very enjoyable. austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 12, 2004 Typical tripel with considerable spice notes. Peppery at times. Lots of alcohol kick that should have been better hidden behind malty sweetness, IMHO. Very little hops. I’m underwhelmed, but agree it’s well-crafted for the most part (as is everything Stone Brewing touches). To give them their due, at least Stone TRIED to brew a tripel.
