Commercial Description:
Sawyer’s Triple is based upon the traditional "Golden Triple" style of strong ale, hailing from Belgium, and weighs in at 7.6% alc/vol. The brew is deep golden in color with a distinctive spicy, sweet and hoppy nose. Effervescent carbonation leads to a modestly dry malt character with hoppy flavors and alcohol overtones. Sawyer’s Triple was formulated and brewed by Bill Sherwood.

What a superb beer! The aroma is superb, the flavor is outstanding, and the 7.6% alcohol is really not noticed; it's that "light" tasting, even though it has a spicy hop flavor! This is one fine brew...and it really finishes nicely!

I can't say I feel comfortable rating this beer considering the reason behind it. But, I believe the reason this beer was brewed has everything to do with it being such an outstanding brew. Hazy dark golden beer with a thin white head. Nose is yeasty and fruity. Flavor imo tends toward tropical fruit and spice.Medium full body. Some alcohol in the finish. An excellent beer brewed with everyones heart in it and it shows.

Light orange gold color. Small head. Aroma is fruity and spicy (coriander and pepper?) Orange and apricots. Bready. A medium bodied Belgian Style Ale. Not sure if it really a triple but its definitely has pure Belgian roots. Malts are very fruity and spicy. Carbonation is bright and lively. Its hoppy for a Belgian ale, but what else would you expect from Stone? Very nicely balanced. Extremely drinkable. I realize that this was a special brew, but do you think you could make more of this beer? Maybe sort of an annual thing. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Thanks to jcalabre for this beer.

Poured a light copper color. Deep, but not hazy like I expected from an unfiltered tripel. Nice white head that formed very late in the pour. Surprised that there is very little lacing. Smell is divine. Smells of yeast, light apple scent, and a dusting of cinnamon. Taste is a very mild Triple. Which I personally love. No overpowering yeast you typically find, very fruity and floral notes with the hops. a little sweet with a little bitter. It really is a subtle beer with a lot of great things going on.

Poured crystal clear and golden with nice, whispy lacing. Very spicy and yeasty aroma. Mouthfeel is excellent with initial sweetness on the tounge. Interesting subtle banana flavors, similiar to a hefeweizen . Really like this one. Defintely a departure for Stone. It's good to know the proceeds of my 6 bottles go to a great cause.

What a beautiful sight, a big golden pour with a head that stands right up in your face, but slowly backs down with time, receding into some nice lacing. The aroma is spectacular, with whiffs of fruits ranging from banana to apples. A quite yeasty beer, bith some big flavors that are very pronounced, some slight candy undertones with a little bit of salt water taffy and bubblegum. Finish is light and spicy.

Crystal clear golden and sparkling. Small white head with very slow rising small bubbles. Nice lacing. Yeasty fruity aromas with some hop notes. Very nice aroma. Sweet and spicy. Candi sugar and fruit. Hops are surprisingly pronounced. Body is medium and the finish is dry and crisp but not overly so. An excellent beer produced for a worthy cause.

I drove from my house in Mission Viejo down to Stone in San Marcos today to buy beer. And I’ve never been so depressed buying a beer. You can all look at Stone’s website and read for yourself about the tragedy involving Sawyer Sherwood and his loss in his battle against ALD. Since all the proceeds from the sale of Stone Sawyer are going to be used in helping fight ALD, hopefully the money being raised will save some other child from this horrible fate. As far as the beer, it pours a beautiful clear golden color with a quickly diminishing white head. The effervesence is continual. I poured this into a Chimay goblet and it looks great sitting there. The aroma is wonderfully spicey with yeastiness to it. There’s a sweet aspect to the nose. too. The flavor is slightly sweet on the tongue. You can put this up against any comparable Belgian Trippel and Stone would win in many people’s views. The texture and mouthfeel are great. It has a medium feel and it is so easy to drink. It’s another world class beer from Stone. It’s ashame that the circumstances are so tragic.
