Commercial Description:
Sawyer’s Triple is based upon the traditional "Golden Triple" style of strong ale, hailing from Belgium, and weighs in at 7.6% alc/vol. The brew is deep golden in color with a distinctive spicy, sweet and hoppy nose. Effervescent carbonation leads to a modestly dry malt character with hoppy flavors and alcohol overtones. Sawyer’s Triple was formulated and brewed by Bill Sherwood.

Interesting aroma that smells like garbage at first and then goes into a citrus and coriander feel. Tastes really bitter and dry up front almost wine like yet goes into a kind of dry cider feel. Pretty damn good.

This had a really nice mouth-watering sweet/spicey aroma. Glowing hazy gold, good head and lacing. Palate was smooth, not real thick. Taste went from sweet to dry with fruit(apricot) and spices. The one thing that I really liked was that the alcohol was not very noticeable. Thanks.

Golden/amber color, small white head. Aroma was citrusy, spicy and malty. Subtly sweet, orangy and spicy flavor. Soft and smooth, but full. Very nice. Thanks a bunch Kimchee.

This beer is a rarity that I received in a trade so long ago and I have been waiting for the time when i could share it with people who would most enjoy and appreciate it. I have kept in in my fridge all that time and noting that some of the ratings were beginning to decline, I decided that it needed to be opened. The fact that JohnC offered to send me one shows what a generous and fine person he is. The fact that the first one arrived broken in a totally destroyed styro shipper, and that he was able and willing to send a replacement shows what a uniquely fine trader John is. And that Herbjones supplied the make-up bottle for John says it all about him as well. All of the credits for the ratings from this bottle go to those two guys. And I think everyone agreed that this bottle had held up well. Fleeting white head over a clear gold. Wonderfully sweet, fruity aroma with warm nuts and honey. Not overly sweet, yet not bitter either, this one is lead by a nice citric fruitiness in the flavor. Smooth and easy drinking. Avery nice triple.

Tap at Stone Bistro. Nice Belgian style triple that works well with their redfish dish. Nice balance of Belgina style yeast and breadiness with the typcial Stone hop profile. Very smooth with a creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle. Nice golden pour, with a strong banana/clove aroma. Flavor is much of the same, fairly straight forward and tasty. Well done. I tip my glass to Sawyer.

On tap at Stone’s 2008 Winter Storm. Some banana in the aroma. Very light to no carbonation. Some orange peel bitterness in the taste. Nice.

Bottle from trade with dalion037. Pours clear gold with a nice white head. Nose is orange, sweet lemon, some grapefruity funk, booze, vinegar, and some interesting sweetness. Flavor is vinergary citrus- orange, apricots, an almost berry sweetness, and nice citrusy sweet malt. Very nice blend of flavors.
