We used only local ingredients to formulate our Totally Massachusetts beer. We call the beer an American Ale, but the yeast kind of gives it a Hefeweizen flavor and the ABV is a little over 4%. We brewed it with 100% Vienna malt from Valley Malt.

An interesting experiment, the grain bill and hops beg the question, why isn’t this a lager? The aroma and flavor is heavily toned by the esters while still presenting a sweet and sour character specific to the malt.
