Slacks (360), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2006 500ml Bottle: Pours a bit darker than most weiss I’m used to, a burnt orange almost, with a thick foam head and excessive carbonation. Aroma heavy in citrus and yeast, leaving me room for concern. Flavour was as expected; a harsh blend of yeast and citrus, heavy on the lemon and orange, but just too many wobbly bubbles. I’m more partial to a smooth weiss, and this one just seems to want to hurt me like a bad girlfriend. You could do worse, but there are much better hefeweizen’s to choose from.
gilvanblight (360), Windsor, Ontario, Canada Nov 28, 2008 Strong citrus scent from something that looks like a Creamcicle. Very sweet with low carbonation. A touch of that grapefruity bite in the back of the throat I don’t like much. SeanMacGC (102), Dublin, Ireland Nov 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours golden, with white head. Yeast on the nose, with citrus notes. More citrus on the tongue, with high carbonation. A decent enough Hefeweizen. Pinball (817), Allerød, Denmark Nov 18, 2008 nice aroma, hefewzen like, dry, slightly sweet, no fruity distractions. neat. appears sloyudy yellow, white head, flavor is wheat, sweetness, citrus, slight alc. overall a nice hefe. blackbock (12), Australia Nov 1, 2008 (bottle) upon opening the subtle aroma of banana was evident. Moderately carbonated, the beer poured a cloudy orange colour. First mouthfull contained pretty much all of the expected Hefeweizen character, although the banana flavour was somewhat muted. After a few more mouthfuls, the beer’s hop bitterness became more apparent and the wheat character remained. Mouthfeel is extremely watery, but this is not a bad thing in a beer of this style.
Pretty reasonable example of a Hefeweizen, if not Bavarian. Mogwai (193), Askeby, Denmark Oct 20, 2008 Bottle. Hazy golden colour with white head. Flavor and taste of yeast, wheat, hops. Slightly bitter and fruity.
